'95 Honda claims first CART Series victory in New Hampshire, US.
NSX wins GT2 class at Le Mans 24 Hour Race.

Just not enough for the world series!

If anything I think Renault is doing great job right now in F1 that really shows how good your engines are and your whole team. I haven't seen Honda anywhere, I think there out of the championships, I saw how nasty it was in one of the races were I thinke one engine blew up and I think the other car got into an accident.

That's becuase honda's drivers, chassis, tires, etc. etc. etc. aren't as good as the others. It's a BAR chassis - not a "honda chassis". That's why BMW is talking about splitting off into their own team again, so they can deisgn the chassis and engine - instead of just the engine. I still think people are loosing the point that this thread is about the engine and the engine only.

M. Schumacher is STILL the best driver in formula 1 but the tires on the new ferrari (which they have to keep due to regulations...) are horrible. Why do you think they have yet to win a race this season?

I spent some yrs in state highway design. That's why I am into this topic so much. I am still designing some local highways with huge size truck like WB-62 and WB-50.
Cool, Stitch. I've done highway design for NHDOT on and off for 10 years. You still know more about engines than any engineer I know.

I really truly hope you aren't a real engineer - you sure don't act like one.
Never underestimate the power of +ve thinking! We all need some affirmation and encouragement thru our lifes. And it is very lonely NOT to have any competitors. I have to point out that competitor are very different from enemy. The biggest enemy of a person is oneself, that cannot open his/her mind to new knowledge, ideas and go "ABOVE & BEYOND".

Only change is consistent in life.

Engineer is just one of those labels in my life. Somebody once named me a philosopher.

An organization that is committed to creative collaboration will ride the wave of the future. They will go beyond the realm of assumptive thinking and welcome the dawn of innovation... because there is nothing more empowering than an idea whose time has come.

Love it! Engine is a true, pure power output! I started with the EIT study. It was so boring trying to understand all those symbols (didn't know the different between H=Enthalpy & s=Entropy) in thermodynamic. But then, I found out that they can all apply to my car's engine. It became more and more interesting. Now I am addicted to it.

Last I heard the bearings were out of spec of made with a material with impurities.
I believe some failures have occurred with engines that fall outside of the range of the rod bearing manufacturing problem which is why some believe it may be a crank vibration/harmonic issue as well.

Not surprising. You figure the honda motors that rev to 8 or 9k are 4 cylinders - which there are 4 cylinders revving to 9k 10 years ago in motorcycles. But a 6 cylinder - not quite as common.

The inline configuration is really the key. The NSX revs to 8000 (9500 is possible) without an issue, but it is a V6 and thus of course has a crankshaft that is only half as long as it would be in a similar I6.

I don't understand why people are so surprised the V10 in the new M5 revs so high - it's crank is quite a bit shorter, and very roughly based off their formula 1 engine... I think that's why the new M5 will be so incredibly popular in europe since the 5 series is already probably the most popular model across sea's, and now they are getting an M5 with a V10 like a f1 car, shift lights like an f1 car, and smg like an F1 car.

I heard that BMW had to tone down the V10 of theirs because of the green party, and what they toned it down too is still making the green party be pissed.
Good, that means they'll take well to ecu flashes.
