Torque Gentlemen, torque. I am pushing close to 310 ftlbs........M3 262ftlbs, I got ya...BMW's rock i love mine, both of them, but fact is there are domestic cars that are quicker off the line. Maybe the guy couldn't drive for shit, i don't know...never got a chance to ask him. But he was SPANKED. I will better be able to tell you in a few weeks. I have another friend that has the Comp Package 2005 M3 and he runs out at Nurbergring all the time, so I know he can drive. We are going to do the 0-100 race on the airfield with an MP buddy of mine using his Radar gun just to make sure we don't cheat. Best out of 3 runs.

Well lets see. I took my car aout for a spin on some windy roads and got some pics of where I might race him if he is truely that desperate about it... I 'll post the pics up later on this afternoon. I had a Toyota Tacoma supercharged from my school wanting to race me.... He was claiming he had 330 HP in his truck on the freeway he could maybe be near me but once I was on the mountain roads... Ultimate pwnage. I am amazed of how well BMW preforms on mountain twistie roads.

DUDE: When he challenges you again and he has a girl next to him, just roll down the window lean outside, give him a little smile and say:

"I know my penis is bigger than yours, there is really no need to compare them" after that give a nice smile to the girl in his car and roll up the window again.

When the E46 M3's came out and the E39 5-Series were out, a lot of 540i 6-Speed drivers would race M3's. M3's would barely be able to pull because the BMW V8 has so much more torque. The M3 needs to be launched hard, and you need to not hold back with the high revs....the average joe with a performance car feels like he is doing damage or harm by upshfiting at redline so he holds back.

Dude, one day somebody who actually knows how to drive, will race you 50-150, and you'll get slapped in the face with the truth.
Emile, I ran against TWO Gt's The older body style pre 00 and 03, killed them both, do you think for a second that the 55 is more capable than you think, just because you had a 500 for a bit, doesnt mean anything, the 500 is much much slower.
And just because I am young doesnt mean I am a bad driver. [thumb]

Killed a e36 m3 in february, we ran 3 times in valley stream LI, killed him all 3 times =P. I worry when a coupe/ sedan has more than 270hp, thats when power to weight is about the same to my ML's.

your kidding i smoked a new mustange gt with my car well not smoked but we were even till about 80 when we stopped
then he was not racing or he/she can't drive. I have a 2006 Mustang Gt and before I modded the car a good bit. I raced a few E46 M3's and it was close (I had C&L intake and Tune). I used to have an E36 M3 with lots of mods (M50 manifold conversion, 10lb flywheel, sachs power clutch, aa tuning software, shorty header, aa tuning track pipe, B&B tri flow exhuast, Evo 3 UUC short throw shifter) My mustang stock felt a bit faster than my modded M3. The current mods on the Mustang are JBA LT headers, O/R H pipe, flowmaster mufflers, C&L intake, 4.10 gears, LFP dual 62mm TB I have not been able to race it against anything since the rest of the mods. Sorry but you did not smoke a new mustang Gt buddy. These (05-06 Mustang GT) cars run anywhere from a 13.2 to 14.0 in quater mile stock depending on the driver. An the E36 M3 stock runs anywhere from a 13.8 to 14.5.

As for the race between the 330 and the 02 Gt in a straight line the Mustang should win, but you will destroy him in the corners.

2004 and older have 260 hp, 2005 and newer have 300 and good bit more torque. Thats why your car feels faster. We arent talking brand spanking new GT!! Besides that, the e36 m3 is one of the first bmw's with an AMAZINGLY efficient drivetrains, most state around 13-17% drivetrain loss. I HIGHLY DOUBT the mustang has such an efficient drivetrain... it even has a solid rear axle, let alone a decent transmission and rear end. Not to mention the M3 is a tad over 3100 lbs in weight and the mustang is a tad over 3400 lbs in weight...booo. I LOVE mustangs, but you have to be realistic. It is faster, but not THAT much faster.

Militant-Grunt you are so full of shit, E36 M3 stock (obd2) 0-60 is around 5.5 seconds. Your car is 6.4. That is just to 60, let alone after 60 where your brick's aerodynamics hold it back even more.

Okay dude I think we've had enough. Nobody cares about your age and driving, but we do care that your car is autotragic....nothing goes into driving if you just have to mash the accelerator.

I don't relate my 500 to your car. But I do relate the E36 M3 having a 0-60 time of 5.4 seconds and your ML55 having a 0-60 time of 6.4 seconds, and you saying that you out-accelerate them...are these cars you race actually there, or do you just step on the gas when the light turns green and imagine the cars driving beside you?

I go to NYC every week-end and I rarely get any racing action (and I only respond once in a blue moon). There is a very big difference between really racing and just messing around with traffic lights....most NYC drivers just like to play around. I think you just take it all too seriously because there is just no justification to out-run the cars that you say you've "killed."

the 05-06 manual Mustang GT have around a 14-17% loss. Moss dyno stock anywhere from 255 to 270 depending on the dyno. E36 M3 put down anywhere from 195 to 210. I have dynoed both cars before I graduated UTI. I never got the chance to dyno my E36 M3 but we did dyno an 05 Mustang GT stock (an instrutors's car)(manual trans) and it put down 266RWHP that is around 15% loss. I also dynoed my friend's 99 M3 coupe (only mod was B&B tri flow) 212rwhp. That is around a 12% loss. Yes the E36 M3 does weigh around 300 lbs lighter. ofcourse there is a big difference in torque. The M3 is also geared pretty low. the 0-60 on the 05-06 GT is anywhere from 4.9 to 5.2 sec. E36 m3 5.4-5.7 sec.

I am being realistic I did raod race the E36 M3 at www.roeblingroad.com

I know what that car is capable of!![wiggle]

after reading this thread heres my .02 cents when it all comes down to it its all about who has the biggest balls. yeah you guys can look at car stats and break it down as much as you all want to see who will win but driver experience has a major role in it also.
so take his ass on the street or twisties and let him have it [boxface] [bmwkick] plane and simple just dont be afraid to push yourself or car to its limits.
nobody can make you do something that you dont want if you feel you have something to prove to yourself then go ahead and race if not then just let him keep talkin.

Thanks, and you could have saved your time by reading my entire post... I'll quote myself.

"It is faster, but not THAT much faster."
