I'm not disagreeing with you I hate plastic too, but about 80 percent of my Z4 is either Leather or Alumin. If you see somebodies Z4 check to see what kind of interior they have and if they have Caddy Plastic, ask them why the cheap fricker didn't spend the extra money, keep in mind it is made in the US. I do grive with you on the topic though.

I love the M coupe, its just one car id buy immediately without thinking if I had the funds. The dial positioning in the center and the two tone leather configs were awesome.. and best of all.. Imola red, and Estoril Blue exteriors...

[werd] Estoril Blue is absolutely amazing!!! After our big accident in our silver X5 4.4i, I almost had the spouse talked into a special order 2004 Estoril Blue X5 at Beverly Hills BMW. Didn't happen....but the Sapphire Blk. 4.8is was a good compromise :)

Every week or so, here in Hollywood, I see this guy driving a Z3 M roadster in Estoril Blue, two-tone blue leather and a bright blue soft top. It is so hot, I drool all over my Alcantara..he he he

The earth is round. Emil: "No it's not, it's flat".

Wow, it's a beautiful day. Emil: "The weather sucks".

I-Drive is so counter-intuitive and lame. Emil: "It's the best thing ever"

The new E90 is not as sporty as the E46. Emil: "It's so much better in every way".

*Emile.

I am entitled to my opinions and I always stand by them. The Z3 interior was always a bit of a disappointment to me because it looks so minimalist and ugly...until the new 7, 5, 3, and Z4, all of the BMW interiors have never been anything special to me. The Z4 interior has much more of a "true roadster" look and feel IMO, and I love the aluminum trim.

I am sticking to my opinions about the E90 and iDrive. The E90 330i Sport, according to Edmunds.com, slaloms exactly as fast as the E46 M3 (which makes it more sporty than the E46 3-Series) and I do believe the iDrive, as well as the new 3-Series, are great. Just look at Acura, Audi, and Infinti...they have all adopted their own version of BMW's iDrive.

I wish the people who actually AGREED with me would chime in when these debates come up (HINT, HINT, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE). Either way, I don't mind standing alone on the issue.

You're calling bmw's older interiors bland, and saying the new ones are better?!? The new ones look like they took a big piece of plastic, laid it out in 3 different shapes (dash, console, and door) and punched holes for a few dials and the radio and that's it. The new bmw interiors look 'cold' and do not have a welcoming feel to them.

Personally I think the E39 m5 interior is one of the best

Or the E38 7 series

Who, me??

Z4 is the nicest mass market roadster out there, maybe with the exception of the Porsches. The interior well suits the intent and personality of the Z4, and I personally would not want an plush interior in that car. I'll go as far as saying that those who don't like the Z4 interior wouldn't like the Z4's ride either, WHICH IS AWESOME for a showroom stock roadster.

I-Drive? I have never used it, so I can't say for sure. Being a techno geek, it would probably work fine for me, especially the later "optimized" versions.

And yes, the E90 is better than the E46 in every technical way. If you put the E46 sheet metal on the E90, virtually everyone WOULD say that the E90 is superior. Personally I like the E90, can't wait to see the M3.

Hehe, thanks Kirby. [:)]

Eric, check these pictures out (this is from the 530i on BMWUSA.com website):

The E39 5-Series interior is nice, but nothing special. These new 5-Series interiors are such a great combination of luxury and technology to me.

I hate to say it, but I actually laughed when you posted those pictures of the E38 7-Series. The new 7-Series' interior is so much nicer it's straight up embarrassing that the old 7's interior looked like that.

It looks like you're sitting in a box of plastic trim and weird angles, not very luxurious to me.

Eric you are so right. The older BMW interiors looked (and felt) as though they'd been carved from a single piece of granite. I really liked the way they enveloped the driver as well. The new ones look plasticky and cheap, and the fact that they slope away from the driver means there's no longer that "sitting in a cockpit" feel that was such a BMW trademark.

That M5 pic helps remind me why I think it's the ultimate car.

Come on Chesty, we're driving cars not airplanes. The new BMW interiors are angled in the middle, not towards or away from the driver. The old BMW's where the radio and HVAC were angled towards the driver just looked really stupid and disproportional. Steering wheel controls are great, too.

nobody said steering wheel controls were bad, but even audi angles its dash towards you now-a-days. BMW is becoming less and less driver oriented. It's not weird at all, in fact it makes you feel as if you're in more control.

Hell my dad's truck's dash is angled towards the driver.

I enjoy having my controls angled toward me, and I enjoy pushing buttons.

But either way, it doesn't matter, because I'm going to have a Z4M Coupe. It's my official attainable dream car, so... uh... something.

Edit: just have to say, the new steering wheel is much cooler than the older one.
