The 5-series has stumbled in a way uncharacteristic for a new BMW....

Not to open a touchy subject, but I had no problem with wallie05 criticizing BMW's quality issues. If fact I have had my share of problems with the Bimmers I owned. I felt that the comparison of a 3 or 5 series to a list of sports cars was completely unfair.

Was it unfair to BMWs or to the sports cars? You said: "If you really think that the cars you listed have the same driving dynamics as a Bimmer, I'd tell you to lay off the crack pipe. Sure, those cars are fun but they don't even compare."

Your comment suggests that 3/5 series has better driving dynamics that the sports cars (again, the WRX is a sedan)--i.e. they/those cars (sports cars) don't even compare (to BMWs). This is saying that BMWs BEAT the sports cars on those terms, NOT that the sports cars that I mentioned beat BMWs. If you agree that BMWs are the better handlers, than the point about me comparing them to an RX-8 or 350Z is moot. So what, I compared the 3er or 5er to an inferior car (in your point of view), what does that prove??? I was saying that those cars do handle well (in my opinion) but that the 3/5er handle well as well, AND do a host of other things that those cars don't, etc......

Furthermore, this is completely besides the point as a I wrote several times. My point was not that BMWs perform better (or worse for that matter) in terms of driving characteristics, but that they COMBINE (in your case, exceed) the driving dynamics of said cars AND are practical/luxurious/safe in the same breath. It's not a matter of which is better at what, it's just a case of which does ALL things well. Man, I'm beginning to sound like a broken record.

BTW: Well put, Finally330i.[thumb]

haha yeah the guy caned me! I thought i had a pretty good point too but... what can you do? Some of the guys here are very... protective of their cars to the point that their judgement is clouded but at least i know that you're on my level mate! [;)]
Let me ask you a question..........why did you buy a BMW?

I bought mine because it was the best QUALITY vehicle I could buy for the price (IMO). If I did not think that BMW had an OUTSTANDING car I would have bought....say a WRX or something. So when a person goes and spends 50k + plus on a car that they,he/she believes is the BEST that they can buy for the money and someone else (with no actual experience behind the wheel) starts to dog that car.....of course it going to rub people the wrong way. I never actually insulted anybody in this thread......I simply stated to go and drive the 5er (for mor than 20 mins around the city) then make your comments...based on some sort of experience. Judgement isn't clouded mate......It is not just a car.....it is a state of mind.

Jeeeeez.....i need to put ALL of you on "timeout" and take your cars away for a day.......
Why are you STILL discussing this point.....if we believe the 5er has stumbled and want to compare it to a doggone WRX or 350z or E-class, or we think the quality is not as good.....SOOOOO WHHHAAAAAAT???? Its their opinion...let it go people i get tired of reading the bickering back in forth on this thread...it is getting as bad as the "M" emblem issue on the trunk i brought up a while ago......i personally think that the 5er does NOT look as good as the previous version......and i also think that if I put my car right next to yours Tool FAn and took a poll...of Germans and Americans that they would say the optics on mine car look better......does this mean ANYTHING? NO! You know why? Because YOU like your car and thats all that matters! Who cares what I and others think??? Bitte, Bitte, lass es stehen!!! Bmw Fahrer sind unglaublich! Wie kinder manchmal........LOL

C'mon man don't start pointing fingers at me and singling me out......read the thread and my posts and the others. I could give two shits less about whether or not your car looks better than mine or if the old 5er performs better...... it is a matter of opinion and an opinion YOU can back up. I was and am responding to negative comments made by people on this thread about the new 5er that have no experience with a 5series period, besides sitting in one in a showroom floor. This is not a heated thread, I am not mad, just trying to bring some logic to this whole debate.

And what do you do when some "misguided soul" calls you a communist?

I personally would try guide them in the right direction. Your comment has a dual meaning and can be played on both sides of the fence. If someone with no knowledge of the US (besides what is shown on tv or in a newspaper) started to criticize the US, I damn sure would step up and ask for an explanation and on what personal experience they would base such a comment, or opinion on.

I NEVER INSULTED ANYONE ON THIS THREAD, CALLED THEM A COMMIE OR OTHER.

SIMPLY PUT.........BACK UP YOU CLAIMS AND OPINIONS WITH SOMETHING MORE THAN "PAPER" KNOWLEDGE.

Chesty Bonds,
I asked you that question because I REALLY wanted to know what inspired you to purchase a Bimmer, I was not saying anything "under the surface" that is why I explained why I had purchased a Bimmer. Don't read into the post to deeply, it was not meant as an insult or however you may have taken it.
