Who care's? BMW's a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT type of car, company, and builds completely different engines. Honda = econo. BMW <> econo.

Honda's are little plastic commuter cars. They are great cars but when you use the words fast/performance/highend and HONDA in the same sentence - you're really fooling yourself. Sure they can be made to be FAST but no the same 'kind of fast' that bmw is. I'd like to see any honda drive around a track and keep up with a stock bmw. With the front wheel drive - it's almost impossible and completely stupid since you'll spend so much money tuning the cars.

Anyways - my point is 1/4 mile doesn't mean shit. You might beat my old bmw in the 1/4 mile easily but lets drive down a highway at 120mph sustained... then you'd see what the difference is.

Hail to the BMW [pray] [cheers]

ok sum1 has just said that a front wheel honda vtec wont b able to keep up with a bmw on the track then think again because the integra type r has a better track time than a subaru impreza and a mitsubishi evo, now how bad can a front wheel drive honda vtec b? :)

Integra Type-R is prolly the greatest FWD car ever, still, give the Impreza and Evo the same amount of tuning time as the Integra has had, and they will more than likely compete just as well on the track. Oh, and no special rule changes just cuz they're AWD.

Still, dunno what the point of that post was. A BMW is RWD, not AWD like the WRX or Evo.

And like epj3 mentioned, BMW and Honda build completely different engines. Honda goes for high revs with almost no torque. BMW likes balance in everything, including their engines.

sorry if u think im bein a complete idiot for posting this topic but the reason i posted it was to see whether u think a car with more torque or a car with more bhp would win a race, because honda engines produce low torque and more bhp and bmw r alot more torqie, sorry i didnt make myself clear

tom u sure a 3.2 honda vtec would lose to a bmw 3.2, that would b like a honda nsx losing to an m3, im not sure if i agree with you? but if that your opinion then thats kool ;)

Yes if you are comparing stock vs. stock an NSX will loose to an M3. For more specs, it would be easier to just check Edmunds.

I forgot to mention 3.0 Honda vs. 3.0 BMW, those two are pretty much even.

lolz i knew you would say that because your a proud owner of an m3 and so you should be ;) trust you wont beat an nsx because we've already raced them and there was quite a difference, this was stock against stock

Aparently you are full of shit, becuase the NSX is barely a 5 second car to 60 stock. The M3 has had many different figure for acceleration - I've seen 5 seconds flat, and I've also seen 4.5.

Handling rocks but the M3 is good too. Also consider that the NSX is more to compete with the porsche price-line of vehicles - NOT the M3 which can be had for nearly $40,000 less. I'd say that for what you get in the M3 for the price - the NSX is overpriced. MSRP: $89,000.00.. right from their website.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love the NSX, it's an awesome car and I'd take one ANY day of the week - but I would personally spend the extra $$ and buy a porsche, which I think is the ultimate sports car.

I didn't give you that opinion because I own an M3. In a real race there could be a number of factors that can contribute to the M3 loosing. At the top of that list would be driver inexperience.

The NSX does have and weight advantage over the M3 that may give it a slight edge on the tracks(not straight line). That doesn't mean the NSX's engine is better than the M3.

Obviously our opinions differ and I don't think any reasoning would make you think otherwise. Anyway goodluck with your research.

VtecTurbo, you're a ****ing retard. I know this thread will probably get locked for me saying this, but what the ****!?! Why are all of you wasting your time talking to this asshole? If he can't take an extra few minutes to type out a sentence correctly then he doesn't deserve to post - it's that simple.

I thought you wanted an engine comparison not a car comparison. Comparing it otherwise would be actually kind of not fair even if BMW wins all of them. Really, how can you compare quarter mile times of the NSX and the M3 (or Z3 and Accord for that matter) and then come out saying that either company sucks just because of that particular car? Thats like taking the same engine and putting it into lets say a corvette and a crewcab and then comparing the quarter mile times, you see what I mean? The only perfectly fair way of compare two engines in a quarter mile is to use the same platform and the same driver with the same conditions, only then will you be able to compare the two engines based on quarter mile times, otherwise you are comparing cars as the whole package.
