You can break your own record again and fill up my tank. $3.39/gallon + 21 gallon tank. [:)]

Eric, I did read a mention of actually getting single-digit gas mileage but I didn't want to spit that out so rounded up to 10, hehehe.

046series, the Excursion's diesel only gets 17 or 18mpg because it is a HUGE vehicle and it is a 7.3 liter engine I believe. It has gobs or torque to push the Excursion around and 18mpg is still pretty decent for such a large SUV.

I bought gas at the mobil right by my place this morning and paid 3.14 a gallon - when I got home tonight, it was 3.39..

I even saw one place where the 93 octane was cheaper than the 87 octane - WTF???
87 was $3.35 and the 93 was $3.25.

I'm so glad I have a four mile drive to work. I feel bad for all the people who commute, and a shitload of people in Northern Virginia do.

I get really pissed (not at you guys; i'm starting something else here) when people complain about the oil price. They somehow think that it should be exempt from market forces. Well I think that if the price goes up then use your noggin' and buy cars that use less fuel. When I see the amount of 4WD's running around the city here I just shake my head in disbelief. You guys have the same problem over there; Hummers, F350s, Suburbans etc are just a total waste of petrol IMO, unless you actually NEED one for business etc.

I'm just ranting. [hihi]
the thing is, if you already have the gas lovin beasts in your garage already, all you can do is complain. you know they aren't gonna sit there blaming their stupidity for the decision to buy the gas guzzler. it is ALWAYS someone else's fault.

i really hope the gas price deal is temporary, because like Eric mentioned, w/ gas prices going up, everything will go up in price, and inflation will set in. its gonna suck like the 80s.. (it was the early 80s right?) anyway, if the gas price situation is temporary, most will soon forget the high prices at the pump the suvs caused.. or just sit there going, remember in 05, when i paid triple digits to fill up that sucka!!

its funny tho when we complain about gas prices. i really wonder what people in other country are thinking when we complain about "high" prices, which they've prolly never saw in their life time, in places like Germany and other european and asian nations.

My local Sunoco station in NJ is charging $3.19 for super (93 octane). Seems as though they raised their prices even before they got hit with an increase from their distrubutor. I mean, this gas was already in the ground at their station before the hurricane hit. Can anyone say "price gouging??"
i don't know if i would call that price gouging. if they were charging 6 bucks a gallon or something, but otherwise, i can't. only because it is pre-emptive raising of prices according to what the market is doing. i'm sure the suppliers are telling them, or even from looking at the futures market to determine how much the gas prices will be.

i'm sure the gas stations also lowers gas prices when the futures price drops, not when they receive the fresh shipment. (it's upto the gas station, but i think the gas prices are more sensitive to what other gas stations are doing, than their invoice price in most cases.)

i mean, if you happen to have a comodity that you knew was gonna go up in price by x amount in few days, wouldn't you try charge that much as soon as possible? esp if the price will meet, if not exceed that amount in a few days. sucks for the customers, but that's just how things are at times.. .....

Canada checking in....1.55 (can) per litre of Sunoco 94...do the math..X 4.5 = 6.97 per imperial gallon X .8 (difference between US gallon and Imperial gallon = %.558 per US gallon x .8 (difference in value of US dollar against Canadian $ = $ 4.46 per gallon equvalent....whoa..keep 'er tuned....btw...extreme condolences for your grief down south..I've been watching a lot of CNN...its such a terrible, terrible mess in Louisiana, Mississippi...my thoughts are with all..

Or not complain at all and let it sit. I own a Suburban (15 - 18 mpg), I'm not complaining and I'm not blaming anyone else.

$3.07 for Supreme at Chevron in Austin, Texas.

To make matters worse, I got lost today trying to find a medical clinic and ended up driving 40 miles in the wrong direction, wasting a quarter of my tank! : - (

Btw, there's a Conoco or something here in south Austin that is selling supreme for $2.78 and everyone was rushing to it since they broadcasted it over the radio, hehe...

You guys still only pay about $0.80 a litre though don't you? I realise that it's all relative to what you're used to paying though. I guess I just can't stop thinking about the fact that they pay about AUD$2.60 a litre in England!!! Now that is f*&$ked up!

My math might be off but.....1 Gallon equals approximately 3.785 liters. Therefore, if gas is costing us (Americans) approximately $3.50+ per gallon, that's $0.925/Liter, or $1.20 Australian once you convert it for Chesty Bonds.

Its not cheap, but its a far cry from the amount the english or any other european country pay.

The real question should be why the prices shot up so fast. There's typically a week+ lag time in the price of crude and what you see at the pump, and yet just hours after Katrina hit, the prices were shooting up. The gas companies will claim they were worried about supply shortages, but I suspect they were hoping to quickly cash in on the economic confusion that immediately followed Katrina.

So long as there are fewer Suburbans, Hummers, and Expeditions on the road, I'm happy.

It's the issue of market speculation. There are a shitload of oil-rigs off the coast there and their virtual destruction obviously has a big impact upon this.

i'm gussing that the gas prices have been a bit more sensitive to the price per barrel, now that they are in the mid 60s.

at least in the states, Katrina hit us at a bad time, since there's a bit of price premium added to the labor day factor. the gas prices at the pumps dropped about 20 cents this week, but i don't know if its because of the oil price dropping a bit or post laborday factor, or both.

incase you still wanna point fingers, before the SUVs, i think China should be blamed for the raising gas prices. with their cheap as hell products pulling manufacturing work away from the states, and sucking up gas like no tomorrow and polluting like crazy, the Chinese must really think they are the US or something [:p]
