(9/27/2004) Corvette Takes Decisive 1-2 GTS Victory at Petit Le Mans (here in ATL, saw it myself, 1-2 = domination)
(8/22/2004) Corvette Clinches ALMS GTS Manufacturers' Championship (Must have won alot to win a championship?)
(7/24/2004) Corvette Takes 1-2 GTS Finish in Portland (1-2 = domination)
(7/19/2004) Corvette C5-R Captures 30th Victory in 50 Races (That's good odds? Got lucky I guess?)
(6/13/2004) Corvette Takes 1-2 GTS Class Victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (1-2 = domination)
(3/20/2004) Corvette Takes Third Consecutive GTS Victory at Sebring
(3/18/2004) Corvette Shatters GTS Qualifying Record at Sebring

Looks like a good year for GM to me. I watched a few of these races, while keeping up with some local buds/BMW freaks that drive/pitwork for a BMW racing team. They had a disappointing summer, while the Vette's continued to win..

Now if you'd like to spend a few hours recounting BMW vs Vette history to really see who has more GT/GTS/La Mans wins then go for it, I'm comfortable with my statement still, the fact alone that they have a rich racing history dating back to the 50's speaks volumes for them itself. Even if they don't have 'as many' wins (Let me know if you start counting!), the point stands that the cars deserve the respect and attention that they are getting on their own abilities these days.

I never showed any disrespect to Corvette - as you will notice throughout this discussion.

Originally you said: "dunno why everyone hates on the vette, it's an admired car with a racing history as long (if not longer in wins) than BMW" and then in your next post you remarked: "Even if they don't have 'as many' wins (Let me know if you start counting!), the point stands that the cars deserve the respect and attention that they are getting on their own abilities these days".

I originally agreed with epj3 by suggesting that you were incorrect in saying that Corvette's racing history was "as long as BMW". In this respect I think you're quite wrong and that's what I originally drew attention to. One particular year (such as 2004, like you showed us) is only a spit in the ocean in the general scheme of things so I'm not sure that that's a relevant example.

Anyway, I do have respect for 'Vettes for the cars that they are and I don't really know why we're even comparing the new Z06 to any BMW... They're just patently different cars.

LUV the Vette - Keep in mind - The ladies luv a Vette. Its an American Classic. I have had women crooning at me from BMW's & Mercedes. I "guarantee" I get more attention in the Vette than in the BMW.

As I' have been told; the Vette is not a "Pratical" car. It's a toy!
