They're split..... and most of the people have outragous postings about it wearing out at 12-20k then another guy claims he has 125k on the tires and going strong??? [confused] I would never drive 125,000 miles on any set of tires. Then theres all these chevy cavalier owners reviewing it, even complaining, almost a devaluation of the tires...

The only helpful one was the Mini guy who stated how DSC helped the tires grip and he was fairly satisfied. (gave me an idea of what to expect of it on a BMW) Did anyone know the Goodyear Eagle RS-A's are made in Germany???

Im diggin the Pirelli PZero Nero M+S. Extensive reviews and good things about this tire from Tire Rack. Have been searching for weeks and gonna finnaly settle for these. Cant beat the W-Speed, 400, AA, A rating for the price. Certainly a steal for $140 (245/45/17).

I have the khumho's and while they are my upgrade from the Mich's i do like how they handle on the curves and on the way they are wearing. But, as i live in Texas and have mostly dry streets to run on, i am not surprised. Suggestion to all: Consider the pavement you are running on and then choose the best rubber.

Good old Michelin

Although I've tried pretty much a set from every tire manufacturer, Michelin seems to be the most consistent tire manufacturer with regards to well rounded performance tires.

For me, the question has no simple answer.
My favourite tyre is the one that is most suitable for the car.
I have a Celica GT4 on Bridgestones. A Rover SD1 Vitesse on Goodyears, and a BMW E34 on Continentals.
From the way they perform on these tyres, I'll replace them with same tyres come renewal time.
IME a tyre that gives good all round performance on one model of car, does not necessarily perform as well on a different model or make of car.
To stick to one make regardless, IMO is a mistake.
Given the right car, and the same criteria, I think there is little to choose between any of the leading brands.

On all pf my Benzes and the last couple of Bimmers I've had Continentals All Season. Never had a problem, and always happy.
Same here. I switched to permanently running with Continental A/S's (after switching between summer/winter tires for a couple of years), and I also have never had a problem or complaint about them. Deutsch, do you use Continentals on the 4.8 too?

Glad to hear too. The 4.8 came with 20 in. Michelins. Since the car is brand new, and there is nothing wrong with the tires, the Michelins will stay until it is time to replace....then the Continentals AS come!!!

Deutsch,

That's what I figured; I didn't imagine that you would replace brand new tires...but you mentioned on all your cars. I know what you meant though...

Do they make Continentals in that size: 20/315s in the rear?

My 2002 530i had the Michelins that came with it. At about 32,000 miles I just replaced them with Toyo Proxes 4's. They feel great on the road and, with our recent wet weather feel very stable. My first time with this brand and so far I like them.

I'm so surprised people actually like Michelin. Every set of michelins on my parents cars, friends cars, etc. has dry rotted after about 2 years, and lost most useable traction after about 40k miles.
