3.2 seconds thankyou very much. Remember that that was 11 years ago too!
IMO, nothing really comes close to the Macca in terms of the overall package, except maybe the Carrera GT. The attention to detail on the MacF1 is renowned; I mean, a titanium exhaust system and an engine bay lined with gold tells you a lot about this car yes? And the Macca still looks the goods to me. It's such a timeless design.
The Bugatti? IMO it's an aberration. It's not at all constructed with the desire to deliver the ultimate driving experience. If Maclaren (or Ferrari, or Porsce, or Pagani etc etc) wanted to they could've slapped 4 turbos on a disgustingly large engine too, but they chose to make a car that was an expression of real engineering talent. Maclaren never conceived the F1 to be the 'fastest car in the world'. They wanted to create a car that was the most focussed drivers tool available. I think they succeeded: non-assisted brakes and steering, NA V12 etc. The amazing acceleration and top speed numbers were a satisfying albeit unexpected result.
This, I think, is why the Macca remains the pinnacle of supercars, even to this day.
