Well right now hasnt been much, over summer I did construction type things. After I turn 16 it is very likely I will be a sales/computer tec at Best Buy. A major benifit of that is the imployee discount. [:)] You have to rember most of my money is going towards my car, I dont have to pay for my own living expences, well not yet.

16 year olds drive E46s? Oh yea, rich kids.
I know what you are saying but it does not always equal big $$$$. Take mine for instance, I pay the same or less on a lease than many average cars would go for on a lease. Take the Pontiac Grand Prix, at $14,000.00 less than mine the lease payment is very close to the same.

So why is this? It is the depreciation rates that effect the cost of ownership. So even if you buy a BMW that you keep for a number of years, say 4-5. you actually in terms of ownership cost may not have spent much more than if you had purchased many other common cars.

Also consider the "it is cool to have a BMW when you are young" factor for younger midgets.

People who are slightly older tend to do a more of "money for value" comparison and often put their money where their ass is (house, investments, blah blah).

But we youngsters live like there is no tommorow

Yea I see, I mean I could 'afford' to finance a brand new 330ci, but I don't simply because I want to spend money on more then a car. Besides I could afford a new 3, but I'd have no insurance.[paranoid]

... just turned 49.

Purchased an '03 325i on St. Paddy's Day, and the car was green to boot. Gray Green Metallic.

But I can't be out done by the wife so, I will take del. of an '04 'ZHP' in three weeks.[clap]

Ya gotta love that 'tax free' overseas stuff...

this was a pretty good study...
looks like most of you are an e46 driver, there is a little gain in the 41 and up sector in that one... mid-life crisis going on? (no, why should a 41+ own an older 3er? (dont answer that))
but as you could imagine, the number of owners per model drops off as it gets older.

i think if there were many more voters, you could more easily see a logarithmic change in owner age over model car.

you mean current model bimmers, or older ones...
only younger people have them because they cant afford the new one from the dealer, but they can get last years model at a much cheaper price..... uhhh, pavel is an exception.

but to add on, about the stupid logarithmic comment, was that the older models prevail, and yet is it because the e30 is just so damn cool?

This isn't a knock on rich kids, but I'm curious as to how many of the 16 - 25 year olds actually put the down payment on & pay for their E46. I know Pavel/Push/Guessgirl does, but if I had to guess, I'll bet that it's less than 50%?

why should a 41+ own an older 3er? (dont answer that)
I'll answer! BMW 3 series is the nicest 4 seat convertible between $40K - $50K! Or did I overlook the 540cic [hihi] !!!

BMW aims the 3-series for the 45-50 year old.

no. the 3-Series is aimed at the younger market. the guys who struck lucky in the stocks or internet boom. its the sporty fealng that some mid-life crisis candidates like. (but only the young can put up with rock hard suspension for 5 or 6 hours! (without groaning when they get out the car) the 5 and the 7 are aimed at the older market and the X is family cars that won't leave the school playground [;)] IMO the Z series (sorry big daddy[:D] ) is more of the mid-life crisis market than anyother!
