Re: BMW

epj3 I agree with you.

The thing is that BMW builds cars with passion. Its not just about making money and this is true. You can agree or disagree. US is all about making money. Build a product for as little money as possible. This is not how they are thinking in the BMW. I understand that BMW has problems too, but hey those are just parts designed by people and people make mistakes. But no car company invented that many new features like BMW.[:)]

I started with BMW's as a little kid when we we're traveling to Germany and I saw this BMW's passing as at lightnig speed and I said to myself "thats the only car I ever want" and there you go 10 years later got a BMW, and now Im ready to get a another one.[:)]
Me too, it was a trip to Germany at age 9 that got me into BMW's........

Okay but lets compare how many gallons of gas were used driving the hunk of junk to a dealer to get repaired. I wont argue, we have had 3 GM lemons in the past 10 years, and all the dealer did was treat us like shit, especially Me. You might say it was becuase I was 17 at the time, but then again, the BMW dealer treats me with utmost respect. Interesting, eh?
The build quality and the actual designs of the cars is absolutely SHITTY. New GM's use PLASTIC intake manifold gaskets!!!! That was a fu*king $1000 repair out of our pockets 2 weeks after the warranty was up. GM wont admit fault and said it was not a design defect, but when you take a look onine, there are a LOT of people who had the problems. Not a design defect my ass, if it werent a design defect, why is it a totally different part and different part number of what they replaced it with!?!?
I hate posting to this thread again, but you have to admit that your experiences have a lot to do with your dealer. I can tell you that I have dealt with the BMW dealer in Greenville, SC numerous times to have my then employer's BMWs worked on, and they always treated me like crap. The women coming in with their 7 series cars always took priority over me, and I was never offered a loaner, even though these cars were used for business. I had to beg them to give me a ride back to work. On the other hand, my parents' 2002 Impala is currently being worked on for a transmission problem (and the car is out of warranty, but the dealership is fixing it for free), and they got a Cadillac deVille with 185 miles on it as a loaner.

My last post on this thread! Dealers make all the difference. One local BMW dealer here in MI is worse than ANY Ford dealer I've ever had. They lost my business to another BMW dealer that treated me the way I was used to being treated by my Ford/Lincoln dealers - with respect and a desire to satisfy my needs. And every automaker out there has issues - including our precious bimmers. Sliptronic anyone? Oh, but wait, that's a GM problem too since they build them! D'oh. I guess BMW IS perfect..[rolleyes]

hey jrt , I'm not taking sides at all , and this is my first bimmer ( used ) but have you ever seen the inside of a Ford Mustang? Lots of plastic and looks cheap . American cars really need a make over in the interior department for me to go back..or to think alittle higher of them. just my opinion ..

Yeah, one of my best friends is a huge Mustang guy. I agree, the interiors in the Mustangs are pure crap. That's a pretty well-known fact that most people will agree with. But, by the same token, Honda Civics and Accord I've been in have equally crappy interiors and simply feel like you are riding around in a thin tin can. My girlfriend's parents have a Toyota Sienna, and the interior is cheap, plasticky, and the dash rattles like crazy in that thing. Ever felt the doors on a Toyota Matrix and other similar cars? They feel like they are made out of recycled Pepsi cans when you close them.

IMHO, many foreign cars are no better than American cars, especially in interior feel. BMWs excepted, which have very nice interiors.

Sad to say, even BMW's have problems.......all car makes have some problems......the joke at my dealership is "her car sounds worse than a Ford." It has been in the shop since last Wednesday with no end in sight in replacing all kinds of parts and pieces for the multitude of rattles......it literally drives you crazy listening to all the rattles.....and understand, these are bonified loud rattles, not little clicks and swooshes......funny part is my 2004 325I loaner has a multitude of rattles too........no blaming on being convertible.......plastic is plastic, no matter what type of car they're used in.....
