Did anyone watch the videos? The specs for the car are pulled out of somebody's ass. "Thats a 16 valve V8 engine", umm, guess again, might come closer. Just shows you the quality of the news we get.
Which video stated that? I clicked on both links, I didn't hear anybody in either video talk about engine specs of the car. Either way, I do believe you....and that's why I hate the news. They can't even give you accurate specs on a car that was in an accident (which nobody probably even asked for); how do we know when the news is right or wrong about all the other shit that happens around the world?

As M Speed stated, mad people need to chill with the drinking & driving. It just makes you think you're a hero behind the wheel and it's always the drunk driver who screws up.

What REALLY gets me is how INSANELY easy it would be for them to find the specs online. [rolleyes]

The owner is some Swedish Millionaire, and his German friend "Dietrich" was behind the wheel. According to witnesses, he was racing an SLR. Official speed was set at 120mph, not 200 as people are saying.
Adam "One witness told deputies that the Ferrari appeared to be racing with a Mercedes-Benz SLR " Not witnesses according to the Times. I did not see anything in the article that said "Official speed", only a reporters comment.

"Authorities said Eriksson said he was a passenger in the Ferrari, which he said was being driven by a German acquaintance he knew only as Dietrich. " Right, he only knows him as "Dietrich", I have heard that excuse a million times from drunk drivers! He only knows his "acquaintance" first name but lets him drive his million dollar car, sure!

"Eriksson told authorities that "Dietrich" ran up a hill toward the canyon road and disappeared. Brooks said detectives are far from convinced they have the whole story." No kidding! {Eriksson "had a .09 blood-alcohol level, but if he's a passenger, that's OK," Brooks said. "But he had a bloody lip, and only the air bag on the driver's side had blood on it. The passenger-side air bag did not. My Scooby-Doo detectives are looking closely into that. "Maybe the 'driver' had a friend who picked him up. Maybe he thumbed a ride," the sergeant added. "Maybe he was a ghost."}Bahaha...

honestly either the cops are dumb and they cant figure out that the blood would have to be from the guy in the pass seat or they could easly just test it or some csi shit

Yeah sorry Dan. I read the article at lightning speed this morning, and was just really summing up the basic details that I remembered from the article. I was not trying to make up my own story, or give false details. Sorry.

Adam no need to be sorry, I totally understand I had the luxury of reading it word for word!

Your reading too much tv bs into it. They will figure it out, but until they do they have to give him the benefit of the doubt. No one can do a DNA test in less than a week, regardless who you work for..except on tv...hehe Besides the guy said, "Brooks said detectives are far from convinced they have the whole story." In other words they know he was the driver.

some friggin drunk lady hit my parked car and two other parked cars, (almost hit a pedestrian) did a 180 and some other craziness (airbags deploying etc), caused 5000 dollars in damage to my car alone, ran away from the scene, came back and claimed she was a passenger and the driver fled (she was the owner, uninsured).

She got away with it all. how can the police prove otherwise without witnesses.

The owner could claim he loved his car so much after the crash reached over and cried for his beautiful car hugging, resting his bloody lip on the steering wheel (airbag). Pretty far fetched but prove otherwise.

police don't give a hoot who was driving. They just put some junk in a report and go home.

hehe i didn't mean any offense to you dan and it is definitely generalized.

I just highly doubt they will investigate this as much as people think they will. no one was killed or hurt other than the dumbace that wrecked...

No he's right... At worst, it's a dui for the passenger/driver/whatever; but even still they have to prove he was driving, otherwise it's just another accident; even if they were speeding like hell.

They could pursue reckless endangerment and speeding charges- but they have to prove it, which can prove to be difficult; especially against a defendant that can obviously afford a good attorney.

Moreover, I think totalling your $650,000+ Ferrari is enough of a sanction to prevent him from doing it again any time soon.

its really hard to say, sence its got so much publicity they will probably try and prove/find out who was driving to make themselves look good or maybe no one will hear about it again

I'm not sure but I think there were two videos on the LA Times page, or maybe it was just this video and they re-recorded the audio track to it. Whats funny is that i remember seeing shots from the video and yet I can't remember the voice of the speaker, meaning, he did not sound anything like the speaker in the current LA Times video. Maybe a new video replacing the two previous ones. I do distinctly remember him saying that the engine has 16 valves, is a V8 and "must weigh at least 1500 pounds". I even showed it to a friend and we were both laughing our asses off, eh, whatever.

A followup article:

Stefan Eriksson imported the now-assectomied Enzo into America illegally as a show car, along with another Prancing Horse and a Merc SLR. And he’ll probably get off with around two grand in fines. Meanwhile, the Bank of Scotland is claiming ownership of the dead horse, and one other question remains: was the McMerc in question the selfsame illegally-imported model that Eriksson brought in? And if so, was “Dietrich” actually driving that car?

Warning: If Dietrich asks to drive YOUR bimmer, you should probably say no; but if you get in a wreck, I'm sure that Dietrich will be in the area!!!!!

Here's more from the Malibu TImes:

Newspapers in Stockholm are reporting that Eriksson may have lied to U.S. immigration officers to gain entry into this nation following a string of convictions for serious racketeering charges in Uppsala, Sweden in 1995.

Stockholm newspaper Aftonbladet reported that he was then known as a member of an "Uppsala mafia" who went by the name of "Fat Steven."

Sources close to the case have told The Malibu Times that the Bank of Scotland is attempting to find out if Eriksson's destroyed Enzo is one of two that he imported several years ago as "show cars."

The Enzos cannot pass U.S. smog standards and therefore cannot be driven on public highways or issued license plates. The source said the Enzo was in the process of being repossessed by the Bank of Scotland.

Deputies who arrived at the scene said neither of the two men found at the scene would admit to driving the two-seat car.
