That excuse has been beaten to death by various members on this forum, so keep trying. Hell, at the very least, this thread ain't even about a BMW.
Plus, he's trying to insult cars, that HE DOESN'T OWN. So why does he have a problem when YOU say something about a car you don't own? [hatchet] [spank] [spank] [spank] Duhhhhh. [spank] [spank] [hatchet] [hatchet] [hatchet] [hatchet] [hatchet] [bash] [bash] [hah] [hah] [hah] [hah] [hah] [hah] [hah] [hah] [hah] [hah] [hah] [hah] [hah] [rofl]

Lexus sucks because its American.
I am by no means a Lexus defender, but Lexus most certainly is NOT American. Yes, Lexus cars only exist in the American market, but the company is NOT American. The ONLY reason Lexus even exists is because the American public is stupid enough to pay out the nose for a car if it has a brand name attached to the trunklid that implies exclusivity.

Thank You.

Same is true for Infiniti and Acura, keep in mind though they do sell Lexus in Europe & Australia, which has had terrible sales.

...Lexus hasn't had terrible sale in Australia, considering our market is so tiny they're doing fairly well and should do even better now that the new 'L Finesse' models are being released.

It's been covered, but yes, Lexus is most definitely Japanese considering that it's Toyota and all. They are only now naming them Lexus, beforehand they were being branded under the Toyota namesake.

They didn't use to. Lexus was a US only brand when it first came out. Lexus models that were sold overseas were sold as Toyotas, which is what they SHOULD be sold as here.

I would say the germans usually get the engineering right but nothing else. Only getting luxury right is what buick and lincoln do. I sure as hell didn't buy my car for luxury, and I think the great majority of e36 owners didn't buy the car for luxury...
Only on the mechanical stuff. The car stuff. Anything electrical and it's almost guaranteed the Japanese will get it better in some way when they get their hands on it.

Toyota may not do the most exciting or groundbreaking thing, but they make very good business decisions. So what if it's a rebadged Toyota? Toyota makes great products. They throw on some luxury features and charge more for a new "luxury" brand. It works. Consumers are eating it up. Badge snobs may get annoyed, but that's just cuz they can't see right since their nose is too high up in the air. Don't blame Toyota for capitalizing on the stupidity of the American public. They're not all that stupid cuz generally, Toyota does put more "stuff" into the Lexus cars (be it sound deadening material or whatever). They do get more, they just pay a lot more for it. You should go buy Toyota stock cuz obviously, their management isn't stupid.

I hope you aren't inferring I said anything bad about toyota... because I didn't (and it should be extremely clear by reading the thread...)

Anyways, you're telling a 5 series owner that japanese cars have better electronics? No shit! [slap]

Just like how there are ford cars that Europe sees that America doesn't, Ford is an American Company, so if there is an European who hate the Fords that he sees on his roads, and says anti-American car comments that really isnt fair, the same is happening here, that is the point I want to make. There are Cars that never see the light of day in Japan and are seen every where in America but all have Japanese tags on them. So just like how there are Fords that are designed and maketed over seas and never come to America, same with Lexus. I just want to hear, "Fu*king Lexus rip-off" instead of "Fu*king Japanese rip-off" THATS ALL

Actually, if top gear reviews are any indication of how europeans feel about ford - I would say ford, especially the focus, is one of the most popular cars over there.

Thank you!!, It was just an example i was using to help people flip their point of view. But yea, I watch Fifth Gear personally, but the brand new Focus ST could beat the Mustang on a REAL track, where there are turns, and the human couldn't be replaced by a brick (talking about brain-dead drag racing)

Read today the the Lex LS will have std and long wheelbase models. The longer version looks like it's getting Maybach style rear seats that recline, ...Probably unbelievably luxurious and of exceptional (typical) Lexus/Toyota quality. Worth it if that's what you want.

A friend says he put down a deposit on a new Lexus ES, supposedly coming out in the spring and to be intro'ed at the Chicago Auto Show next month. He says 280 hp and a look like the IS.

Hard to believe that we haven't yet seen reliable shots of the E92 coupe/vert yet; I hardly realized the ES was due for a makeover.

First of all I want to say a big "Hey!" to all the regulars I havent chatted in here with in a while(Mr. E, epj3, average jae, etc. etc). Second of all I can say from experience over here in Germany that the Ford Focus, Ford Fiesta, and especially the Ford Ka are very popular and well made(www.ford.de). Second of all the leather in BMW's is not "cheap" as someone insinuated. It is what i will refer to as "long-life" leather versus the super-soft "short-life" thin version that other company's may use. Third the Lexus in question is running in commercials on CNN world on a regular basis and it DOES look good, it IS a Toyota and it looks like the Bimmer in profile...profile meaning sideview....other views show the differences. Is it a rip-off? Maybe, maybe not but it will always be a discussion. People said the Honda Civic was a rip-off of the E36(shares some design elements but...uhhh...nope). The Nissan Sentra of the '80's was ripped of plenty as well as the old RX-7's, Datsuns...we could go on and on and on.....
