I totally agree with everything you guys are saying about this car, it "IS" a rip-off, but it's unfair to say that Japan sucks and stuff, I mean All American cars are REAL crap and stuff.

Its very sad to see that the Japanese automobile industries run out of ideas and are always coping the German automobile Industry with looks.... I still will go with the 7 series over a Lexus anyday. Plus BMW is always much more fun to drive than any other sport-luxury automobile out there.

Well Pontiac sucks anyways...

The Mustang
The Corvette
The Viper

All in all though if you look at all the designs as a whole they are very unique, the Japanese have hints all over of GERMAN.

BTW The Japanese never had any ideas in the automotive industry.

Other than the idea of building a reliable car, economy cars, cheap but well built cars, and building some of the best engines in the world. That's all.

We all know Lexus has been copying the other luxury car companies for years. This new LS styling is so obviously taken from the new 7, but I have to say, it looks great.
Seriously! I don't see how you people are surprised. This is nothing new. And not for this industry. The Japanese take an existing product, and then make it much, much better. They've always worked this way. Doesn't show as much creativity, but consumers don't care.

While it looks like a copy, at least we know it'll be ultra luxurious, super reliable, and totally easy to use. Things that can't be said for the Germans. They might get one of those features right (usually luxury), but not the other stuff. And they never will get it right either. And the customers live with those problems for the badge (and driving experience in the case of BMW; Mercedes has pretty much gone downhill except for styling... altho that's heading downhill too).

I would say the germans usually get the engineering right but nothing else. Only getting luxury right is what buick and lincoln do. I sure as hell didn't buy my car for luxury, and I think the great majority of e36 owners didn't buy the car for luxury...

I agree, I don't find BMW's luxurious in the slightest. The leather feels very low-grade, and there's just not much luxury. I think a top end toyota (not lexus) has a nicer interior than a top end BMW, no lies. Benz, on the otherhand, is more luxurious, but again, not quite what you'd expect when you see the three-pointed star. However, you can't argue with the build quality, inside or out, of either of them (not that you can with Toyota either. Buick on the otherhand...).

Are you agreeing with me or being sarcatic? I don't think BMW's are NOT luxurious. Nothing beats driving a 5 or 7 on the highway. (Driving, rather than being a passenger.)

BMW's leather is fairly low grade but it's still not terrible.

I'll remember that when Al Qaeda takes on Canada.

Eric I think the Germans get Luxury the best, but they are behind Jaguar in the dept, they sure don't have engineering going -- Clarkson admitted that a while ago that the Germans make the best cars for luxury- particularly Mercedes.

Buick--- Good Lord, GM takes the hides of retarded cows I think, I think it’s the worst!

Mr Elusive your opinion (as I’ve stated previously) is not valid here, you don’t even own a BMW!

ALL car manufacturers have had this idea. For years. Way before the Japanese even *knew* what cars were.

Now, successfully, consistently and profitably executing that idea, well, that's a different story.....

I know you are good at looking "retarded," so this should be no shock. BMW's seats are built by the same company, using the same leather.

The Japanese dont always rip off every body else, its just hard to top cars like the Supra, RX-7 NSX, After the BNR34 Skyline - Nissan finds it really hard to out do them selves all the time, that goes for most Japanese Companies. I'm pretty sure toyota hasnt put out a supra since the MK4 because it is to hard a act to followand serious ly at the same time, there is NO Lexus IN JAPAN. The car company Lexus is for the most part a US only company. Lexus designers could be living next door. Same with Acura and Infinity, they are only US Companies. My favourite example is Ford. The best Ford in the world today are European designed, built cars, some of which america never gets. So as i said before how the American companies suck, with Lexus being one of them, there you go - Lexus sucks because its American.

That excuse has been beaten to death by various members on this forum, so keep trying. Hell, at the very least, this thread ain't even about a BMW.
