Wallie 05....I stand corrected that was the show I watched. And you are correct that is the older RS6 the 2003 or something like that. As far as i knew it was the new one. I was informed (from un-informed sorces) that the RS6 was not getting the "fish mouth" make over and the same engine was supposed to be used. But fact of the matter is that the "new" M5 still beat out the RS6 which was made at the same time as the MB E55 that "beats" the M5.

YOU WIN

Is Audi even gonna make a new RS6? Coulda sworn that I heard that Audi was dropping out of this horsepower war and leaving it to MB and BMW.
No way, the next-gen RS6 is in the works. There's no way Audi is going to bow out now, they have way too much invested. Also, the A8 6.0 is set to be out early next year, and I saw an S8 in Motor Trend that it supposed to out some time next year as well. Both of those cars are talking aim the 7 series and S class V12 and AMG for the M-B.

I saw some artist rendentions/spy shots of what the next RS6 will look like; I'll see if I can find some, if anyone cares here....

Like I said, now that Audi has seen the E55 and the new M5, it knows exactly where to set its sights. [target]

The last RS6 was crazy fast too at 0-60 in 4.3s, and its Quattro sure did help putting power to the ground. Who knows what the next one will do.

Interesting cuz I saw $125,000 Cdn or $85, 000 US recently. Mind you with the recent sprint of the Cdn dollar it might become $85,000 Canadian and $125,000USD. [rofl]

[joke]
wow...that sounds a lot better...told a couple of friends that it was $125,000 and they freaked out...85k sounds a lot better and thats what they were guessing

We have just gotten past that now, along with everybody simply getting sick and tired of massive SUV's roaming around (SUV's used to be a trend, but the US's new trend is performance). It used to be about how BIG your vehicle was, but now it's about how BIG your engine is.
Unfortunately, I don't think we are out of the SUV fad yet - it's still a huge trend here, especially in the southeast.

I completely agree, but sporty cars are becoming real popular, real fast. And those who still like SUV's can now get fast SUV's. Back in the day, it used to be only the ML55 AMG and the X5 4.6is that were fast. Now there is the Infiniti FX, Porsche Cayenne, and the new 05 Grand Cherokee will have an optional 330hp 5.7L HEMI V8, as well as a few other fast SUV's that I'm too tired to think of right now.

Granted when you are on the road and you take a look around, you'll see a shitload of SUV's, there are definitely more M, AMG, and other high-performance cars on the road than ever before.

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean.

In Japan, the Infiniti G35 Coupe is called the Nissan Skyline 350GT. In Japan, they also have the Nissan Skyline GT-R which is a completely different car (280hp twin turbo 4WD sports car), but with a similar name. I was stating how although you cannot purchase a Skyline GT-R in the states (meaning you can't go to a Nissan dealership and pick one up, or even order one), there are small companies that will import them legally into the US (you pay for the cost of the car and the entire "import process").

And to add on to list of things YOU must payfor....any engine work, wheel alignment exhaust issues, computer issues ANYTHING besides a tire rotation and oil change, your Nissan Skyline GT-R must be boxed up and shipped back to Japan to have work done on it...at YOUR expense. HMMM. I would go with the G35. Hows the work comin' any way Mr. E?

The guy said he is "shooting for" Wednesday (today) or Friday. It's Wednesday and he hasn't called me so I'm guessing hopefully I get it back Friday.

As for the GT-R maintenance and shit, tool fan is exactly right but I believe most Skyline GT-R owners usually have a local mechanic (probably a tuning shop) that can take care of the car for you.

Audi’s S and RS ranges will no longer offer more power than the equivalent models from AMG or BMW M-Power. Stephan Reil, the General Manager of Development at Quattro Gmbh, the company responsible for Audi’s RS models, claimed that, ‘continuing to increase the power outputs is not the way forward. With more power the car normally gets heavier and then you need more power again.’

Taking a sideswipe at AMG, which recently launched the 603bhp S65 AMG, Reil said ‘with a rear-wheel-drive car, all you succeed in doing is lighting up the yellow traction control sign. Our drivetrain allows us to transfer the power to the road.’

Reil said the Quattro Gmbh brand will develop cars that combined high power outputs with ‘outstanding driving dynamics and road handling.’ Audi is planning to adopt a new naming structure (SQ3 to SW8) for its sporting models.

That's where I read that Audi was dropping out of the horsepower war.

Hey MrE first of all what the heck happened to your car? Second how much did she run you?
I was waiting at a light to make a left-hand turn. I thought it was clear but basically it just wasn't. I didn't see the on-coming car so I made my left turn nice and slow. That was my mistake. The on-coming car happened to be an old lady who just couldn't react at all, so basically, my car was hit at around 45mph on the passenger side. $12K worth of damage and several weeks away from my car, it all could have been avoided if I had just been "stupid" and punched it instead of taking that turn so slow (again, I didn't know there was an on-coming car so I just took my turn as normal...calm and gentle). Here is the thread if you want some more details and pictures:

I [hopefully] get the car back on Friday.
