X5 - if you're going to be upset at folks that own sports sedans, coupes, and GT class cars (M3's) for occasionally blowing the crud out of their car, or doing a little accelleration run with another driver - then that is your opinion, and accepted (and even agreed with, to a certain degree). But don't get bent out of shape, and don't take it personal. I'm sure any 'sponser' you show this thread to, will say 'wow, a little testosterone is flowing in that thread, but nothing to cause me to remove my sponsership from BMWboard.com'. Find anyone who will do that based on some posts about speeding, and I'll find you someone who doesn't have a clue about selling aftermarket parts, that all make your car faster/handle better. Now, why would ANYONE sell stuff like that, when the cars we own already outperform 90% of the cars on the road, and are more than capable of intense handling and speeds?
So on to my next point: Things drivers do on the road that is more dangerous, or just as dangerous as speeding:
1. Talking on the cell phone and driving
2. Fooling with kids in the back seat and driving.
3. Drinking and driving.
4. Not using signals, or deciding you're the person that is 'not gonna get stuck at that yellow' and runs the red..
5. Drivers that control others by slowing, or pulling in front of faster cars. (The most dangerous type of driver, one that feels he must 'police' everyone else)
I'd add 'doing the speed limit vs moving with the flow of traffic', however as dangerous as I feel this is, it's legal.. (unfortunately)
Unless you're giving grief to every driver you encounter that's doing those things, then you're being a bit biased and one sided, and really just arguing this thread to death..
Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning street racing, or street drag racing or whatnot, what I do condone is driving within my abilities to avoid other folks that can't drive for ****, or doing what I need to, to get my car 'away' from folks like this.
And the occasional petal stomp to burn out the crud, when someone's feeling squirrelly..
