Different counties? Or, is one closer to a more major freeway on/offramp or shopping center? That explains the differences btw all the Chevron gas stations around me.

ALL same county...San Diego. My point is, that the individual stations always claim that the prices are NOT set by them..."...we dont make more profit..." Yeah, right. That should be regulated...no?

$2.49 today for 91 in La Jolla (I know its the rich area) and 15 miles out, 15 cents cheaper. IT is still BS.

A few years ago a Philadelphia TV station did an investigative report on this. We have several large refineries in the Phila. area so gas prices should be very stable and predictable, one would think. But the stations in downtown Philly were cheaper than the stations a few miles away. The oil company told the reporter that the stations were in different "Market Demographic" zones, hence the price difference.

So yeah, you're getting ripped off.

I've noticed that places where you have to go inside to pay cost less. I've never heard of Hess. Do you have to go inside to pay or can you pay at the pumps?

The station I use is also Hess, and it just happens to be the cheapest gas around, theres other stations around like BP and Citgo, but they are much more expensive. Maybe its their locations? The hess station i use is next to a major truck route. And skandalous you can either pay to the booth or you can use ur credit/debit card at the pump.

You Americans have the cheapest gas prices in the world, so stop complaining.

NZ is still very cheap by world standards... lemme see 96 octane we pay around $NZ 1.15 per litre. 1 gallon = 3.785 litres, so 1 gallon = $NZ 4.35.

With the current exchange rate that comes out to $US 2.99 per gallon. A good chunk of that is tax, and our government has just announced that the gas taxes will now increase with inflation.

The poor Europeans pay through the nose for gas though.
