wood_e, i would quote you but thats just too damn much. all i want to say is that the fast and the furious movies are rediculous. whoever wrote the script knows less about cars than i do, and believe me, that's sad. i don't know much about cars and if i told you i wasn't ashamed, i'd be lying. everytime i take my car to my mechanic's garage (my friend's garage) i watch carefully and they almost always let me help. as soon as i start making some real money i'm taking driving courses and auto tech courses. i've learned a hell of a lot over the past week of being registered with this forum and i've loved every bit. a friend told me to visit www.howstuffworks.com for numerous questions. that site is the greatest and has actually taught me a ton. thanks one and all for giving me what little information i have.[thumb]

Oh no, let me hide my head in shame every time I drive because my dad pays for my car. [scratch]
Seriously, you're all being way too harsh for those of us who didn't pay for our cars. Sure there is a strong feeling of pride knowing that you worked very hard and paid for your car all by yourself, but I'm never embarrassed that I don't take care of my car payments. I'm very appreciative that my parents provide me with a means of transportation and I just figure that whoever cares about how my car is paid for, just concludes that my parents handle it and I leave it at that.

well if you want the truth, we're bitter because you guys don't have to work for anything. and our pride compensates for our bitterness so that we don't act rudely most of the time.

Yeah, I can understand that, but I promise you I never use my car to show off or to get attention or anything gay like that. During the summer, I pimp around with the windows down and probably have the music turned up, but I'm just enjoying myself (the drive, of course[driving]), not flaunting my car or anything.

Just kidding man [cheers]
i'm on vacation! haha.i just joined last week so i'm loving all of this knowledge. it's either on this forum or howstuffworks.com. it's actually sort of funny...everybody here acts as if you get some kind of prize or reward for having a lot of posts. "post whore" and "no need to up your post count" ...what does it matter?

it matters not friend! I just saw your join date and was like wow.... lots of posts... nothing wrong with that though
sorry, i didn't mean to take a harsh "tone" but i've heard a fair amount of that and i just don't understand it. it's almost as if it's a good thing to have too much time on your hands that you can sit there and post all day. my post count will go down significantly when i return from vacation, i'm quite sure.

post #2. - just to add a little more-

i once had to give a lecture to a group of about 20 people at school during lunch who didn't believe me when i said cross drilled rotors are going to make my car faster. the n00bs couldn't catch on that if my rotors stay cool, i can dive farther into a turn. i agree with john, 1 and 100.

Parents buying their kids cars means nothing. Yes a lot of kids act like their the sh*t b/c their parents are rich but you guys act like every kid driving a BMW is like that. I am 16 and my dad bought me a very nice BMW about 5 months ago, but that doesn't say anything about me. I am not an only child, my sister also got a very nice car when she was 16. If it was my mom's choice we probably wouldn't have, but my dad loves cars and happens to have made some good money in his career (I'm not bragging, just saying). I don't take my nice car for granted at all, I pay all my insurance (quite a lot I must say) and all my gas money which I am proud of. I have worked very hard to be able to pay for this car and there is something to be said for that. I also have never thought my car made me any better of a person. When I got my car I only told my best friends cuz I didn't want people to think I'm a spoiled little rich kid. If strangers ask me what I drive I am usually shy and just say a used BMW (or even lie and say something else) b/c of the same reason, I don't want people to hate me b/c of what I drive. Obviously, everyone knows in my HS what I drive and a lot of people hate me and are jealous of me b/c of it, but I don't really care if people are that low. I've never bragged about it once at school, I've barely even told anyone. Granted a lot of kids who get nice cars are cocky and full of themselves and think they're the sh*t, I'm just saying we're not all like that. I have a few friends who have nice cars also and none of us think like that at all. It's only a car, that shows nothing about a person, even if their dad did buy it for them.

Where's the popcorn eating smiley face when you need one...

Not feeling insecure are ya? You basically just described the kind of 'person' we were talking about, and totally missed the fact we were NOT talking about all 'young folks with cars' but the ones that feel they must explain why it isn't theirs and the whole situation behind it.. *sigh*

Most of this thread is about kids who didn't pay for their cars and how people who do pay for their cars are bitter because of it. Is that not exactly what my post was about[confused]

err, I dunno where anyone tossed in anything about being bitter? I'm not bitter, I think it's more like the folks doing it are *showing their a$$*, or showing off, being insecure, being their age (sic), or whatnot. Either way, no hard feelings intended, it wouldn't be called a forum without all sorts of thoughts and ideas being tossed around, no matter if everyone agrees or not.

Hey Frolf, I'll take 'Smiley faces of the Internet' for $200! [;)]
