Yeah , I know not to wear my heart on my sleeve, but it is almost as if the haters are talking bad about my mom or something. Makes me mad HAHAHAHA, I am having fun though. That is what makes a great forum.........THE ABILITY OF PEOPLE TO DEBATE A CONTROVERSIAL ISSUE WITHOUT KILLING EACH OTHER.

I distinctly remember when the E36 came out, it was about as big of a deal with the overall changes as Bangle's are; similar responses from everyone. Now it's like pulling teeth to get a BMW driver out of their E36.. [:)]

The new 2 series and 3/4 series that we'll get in the US will pacify folks. It may cause 5 and 7 sales to 'really' drop, as there is alot of talk about the new body designs..

Have you done anything to your 5 yet? (big wheels, drop, etc)?

I really wanna see a new modded 5, nothing crazy just bigger wheels, with a drop, some tint, clears... [thumb]

No I haven't, I have been looking but the only rims I like are the new Ac's and they are mega expensive....over 11,000 for rims and rubber. That is what I was quoted from a mod shop in Bamberg. I am going to wait and see what comes out. Not a whole lot of options out there yet. I am not going to drop it. I already have to drive at an angle over some undalations because it bottoms out. The performance packaged cars are already lowered a bit. when I do make some mods I will post pics. Maybe I can make it pretty so some of the 5er haters will like it.[burnout]

Americans make some of the ugliest, freak of nature, gas guzzling monsters on the road.
To each his own (as already pointed out), but the vette gets better gas mileage than the 2004 545i

Corvette C6 - 19mpg/28mpg
545i - 17mpg/25mpg

That's not the point, duhhh

tool fan called the vette a gas guzzler - soooo what would you call the 545!?!?

For what it is, the Corvette C6 gets good gas mileage

M3 E46 - City: 16 MPG / Hwy: 34 MPG

Ok quick english lesson for the uninformed or selective "readers" out there.
The quote is very specific in stating that "aside from the corvette", which is to state that the corvette is the exception in this case. That would mean that the corvette does not fall in the category "freak of nature, gas guzzling monsters on the road". Sigh.....we gotta keep the facts straight, nothing personal!![thumb]

but seriously now, who cares that much about gas mileage anyways. a car that gets 25mpg highway is not going to sell me if i like the one that gets 21mpg highway more. only time it makes a diff is when its a big gap like, 15mpg difference, and come on, who buys a vette for gas mileage, and who buys a bmw for gas mileage.

As for gas mileage, you should take a hard look at the 25mpg vs 21mpg car. If you consider a 19 gallon tank, 25 mpg, you would get 76 mi more out of a tank of gas. That equates to approx 3.6 gallons of gas (21mpg). Cost per each fillup ($2.00 gal), $7.20. Now if you fill up once a week, thats $374 more spent per year. That's quite a bit of money.

Good luck. You're glutting for punishment!! Then again, I'm not sure it's possible to make it look any worse. [bmwkick]
They say if you shoot for the stars...you might hit the moon. I don't see what the issue is....if the 5 series was not called the 5 series and it was called something else, everyone would love it. The fact of the matter is the older 5er was such a loved car that it seems in a lot of peoples eyes that it falls short of something worthy of that old "5er" look. The older 5er's were great, I had a 98 528i and it was fun, but the technological improvements with the new 5er's can't be touched by the older model. I thought that was the whole reason for designing new cars. I personally think that to truly appriciate a the sheer pleasure of driving a BMW, or any other "nice" ride for that matter, you have to come to Germany and just cut loose on the autobahn. I don't eat Caviar because I don't like it, so I don't buy it, but I don't "dog" people who do. If you don't like the new 5series....very simply DON'T BUY ONE. That is better for me, I can stay in that "exclusivity" bracket.[thumb]

Toasts to us E39 drivers!!!! [B)] [clap]
Just kiddin'!!!
The driving experience on the autobahn is nothing like driving in the states though, I mean 15km traffic jams in a non-city area??? LOL Although driving 130+mph everyday is pretty cool!!!![cheers]

Well, I suppose the old axiom is true: if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all. But what's the sense in discussing cars or automobile critics writing reviews if all that can be said is "I didn't buy it."

I wasn't comparing the new 5er to the old one. I was saying the new E60 is fugly in it's own right.
