[hihi] You just have to watch out for certain people - they are very very biased towards BMW's (Mostly because they never experienced any other cars...) Otherwise, yea it's a great place!
Dude, including you and me. We're all guilty of that to a degree just for being here.

I know but mostly you and I just joke around but people take us serious. But that's just how we keep from getting completely bored with the "my light is burnt out!! omg warranty1!!! lemon law!~1!!111" posts.

Does your Cobra have Vtec or VVT-i?

:p

Sounds like nobody other than me likes the 8 series [ohcrap]
I like the 8 series too, would kill to own one, but liking it doesnt make it magically faster.

If 'liking it' makes it faster, then I am going to REALLY like my 5er [paranoid]

I think the 8 wouldn't win, 1st of all there are faults and defects in 12cyl 8s, the 8cyl 8s are the choice cars. Though the mustangs are only good in a straight race, they have no real racing handling, only drag racing.

I dont need to, when professionals on both side of the Atlantic say so. If a car just has a bad chassi, there isn't much you can do other than cut the car apart, then it would be good, but it won't be a Mustang anymore. So whats the point, buy a better car.

Actually the cobra handles pretty damn well. Better than e36's.

If there was a Mustang that could race well it would be the 06 Mustang, not yours. For a proven fact, if you ever watch Grand Am Racing in the last two years, there were M3s racing against new '06 Cammer Mustangs, which are WAY better than Cobras-do you home work, and all through out the season it as a fact that the mustangs were better on the simple long straights and in the complicated infield section of the course M3s ruled. The Blackforest Mustang was the best Mustang team but they couldn't best the TunerMotorSports M3. It was a fact that was highlighted by everyone and accepted. Also on the Show on SPEED TV, Sports Car Revolution, they said your gen Mustang handled horribly. Everyone on the show said it sucked a REAL track, that has turns, that most of the American cars are made for Drag racing, but there is no real skill in that, because you can win depending on how much your willing to spend on a car. So the richer guy wins, not the more skillful guy. On top of that, 70% of American cars are Automatic - so the little bit of tech skill that can be used is taken out right there.
So USE FACTS to make your claims

What the hell? What does the fact that 70% of American cars are automatics have anything to do with this discussion? You go from talking about Grand Am Racing prepped race cars to saying that 70% of production American cars are autos, and they therefore suck. I'd venture to say that nowadays close to 80% of BMWs that come to the states are autos (unless they are specifically ordered by the customer configured as a manual). I guess that means BMWs suck. [rolleyes] When I went to look at new C-class Mercedes a few months back, the dealer didn't have a single manual on either the new or used lot, and he said they don't get any in unless the customer specifically places a factory order for one with a manual transmission. Guess that means Mercedes suck too. [rolleyes]

Plus, if you had any REAL knowledge about drag racing, you'd KNOW that an automatic transmission is almost ALWAYS a better choice over a manual. In fact, some of the fastest drag cars on the planet use a Powerglide transmission (a GM TWO-speed automatic), but I'm sure you already knew that since you are clearly an expert. I used to drag race my Camaro back in college at the very active local track, and it is obvious to me that you have no real knowledge of what the sport is. Driver skill plays a VERY large part in success on the 1/8 or 1/4 mile. So, instead of telling us to use facts to make our claims, don't pretend to be an expert about things of which you know little.

driving one cobra was enough to know it was faster than the half-dozen e36's I've driven.

Calling me a child? Haha. You're just ignorant.

you're a fool if you think i'm trying to claim an e36 is faster than a cobra. let the macpeddling begin, cause to think you know how a car is after driving it for an hour... well... i believe we have a great example of ignorance in practice
