4DSC, nobody gives a shit what ricer forum (aparently ran by Nazi's) that you came from. There is no confusion, you're chewing out this random person for posting 2 threads, then you made fun of them by calling it a stupid question/easy repair. Who cares if it's easy? The point is it is a 40,000 dollar car and I can COMPLETELY understand the original poster's reason for asking before going at it.

"The help I offered was the best you guys could offer at this forum, so please..."
You want a bet? I'm not going to get into e-fisticuffs with you but I guarantee if one of our local "wrenchers" had seen the original thread (but didn't because none of us own an E90 yet) -- it would have been answered.

"If you guys believe that changing an air filter needs much learning and is okay to start 2 threads over,"
Man no offense but you are as dense as my crankshaft. Many people have said the reason the OP posted 2 times is because the E90 forum doesn't see much or any visits yet. Maybe they forgot they posted it there and thought it had disappeared or they didn't post it right. To someone who might have owned vehicles with full maintainence from the dealer (ie BMW), they wouldn't HAVE to open the hood EVER. Not everyone is a wrencher, and now-a-days they don't have to be, cars are fairly reliable to begin with and all maintainence (including washer fluid) is taken care of for free.

Do you think donald trump knows how to change his air filter? Or how about the boss of where you work (if you work? You seem like you might be a sophomore in highschool.)

Anyways, this thread is just funny and I think you aught to just let it go.

Yet again your missing the point. I made it very clear throughout this whole thread. If you had any appreciation for this forum, you and the rest of the bandwagon would hop off. Again, if you have to ask twice(even once) on something so simple, you have no means in attempting it, regardless of how much the car costs. That isn't even what got to me.. The guy can't even hold off for only a few hours without asking again. This "poster" hasn't even shown any appreciation for my help, or all of you standing up for him. Even though the last activity took place just recently. That looks like somebody wanting to use this place for their own personal gain to me. But unfortunatly, I have seen that it isn't a problem for this forum.

Im dense? I really hope you take a vacation for that one. Where are the mods when you need them??? [mad]

Oh and what your doing now is real mature.. Okay fine.. "After much consideration and an 8 hour study group" I have concluded that you don't have any idea how to change an air filter. [poke]

I've let it go long after my double advice to Ms. Katleen.. Since then, it's just been plain sad. [:(]

4DSC - you need to let this go - you didn't even answer the question she asked in the original post (how many screws) and your advice sucked.

Some people have never worked on cars and when they want to learn, I credit them for trying.

Listen, you - like all of us (except tom), are guests on this forum. We play by TOM'S rules becuase this is "Tom's House." There is the basic understanding that we are more relaxed about stuff around here, like double posting and hell - posters like you. Again, NOBODY cares what the other forum you were on was like. This isn't that forum, and unless those forum owners paid for BMWBoard's license for vbulletin, then their extremist methods don't flow here. You are the ABSOLUTE most dense person I know. I thought my one friend was dense... until now. You just simply don't understand what we're saying. I'm sorry if you have any kind of learning disability, but this isn't exactly rocket science.

PS You keep calling what you posted as "ADVICE..." dude I don't know what kind of "ADVICE" is thrown around on your fart can dictator-run forum, but it must be pretty horrible.

PPS I also like your moot point that we don't know e90's but you do because your friend has one. I find that EXTREMELY hilarious that you think you "know" a car because you looked under the hood once. You probably don't know the first thing about most BMW's, let alone e90's. Not much, other than suspension, has gone through large changes since the E30 era. Until you have actually worked on BMW's, you can take your car-specific non-advice and shove it...

I could say the same thing about you. You have the nerve to call me dense, while your not getting my point, post after post. Everyones got it already which is why your the only genius thats still trying to be smart. What, you got your E-brake on, or your E-Thug? Maybe E-Slow? You got something on thats constantly keeping you from getting my message across. [paranoid]

Why do you think Im still here if Im wrong like how you believe? Also you seem to feel very confident in your responses because you have your little bandwagon behind you to cheer ya on. I recommend you stop this nonsense before you find yourself banned. Your taking this way too seriosly. [screwy]

That was common sense advice for anyone who can move their hands, and has ever held a wrench. Since I've never worked on an E90, I gave the best available general advice that nobody else has given. At the end, I wrote if you feel you will mess something up, have somebody else do it. You guys didn't offer anything better, but something far worse. [rolleyes]

I never said I did. Please don't put words in my mouth. You wanna test me, go ahead..

Ok but lets chill on the name calling and get back to BMW reality [nono] . I need to see if I can [whip] this thread back into shape. No more [?|], [bigcry] , [bash] , as we need to keep it friendly and peaceful. Thanks in advance.

Posting the same thread in separate sections only says one thing.. You should not attempt a job like this. Have somebody more qualified install your air filter.
ok!!! so here we go...i just thought maybe someone here already did this mod. on an 06 325i...and they could give me some tips....but i did it already... "yes myself "... for those who didn't think i could!!!!heres how...1) its easier to remove the whole airbox...2) there are 6 screws they go all the way around, no way your getting your hand to all of them with the box in the car 3) two bolts on the right hold the box down, loosen the clamp at the rear and unplug the wire 4) remove the box, take it apart, change the filter...thats it!!!......thank you for those who had faith in me to get it done.....and as one of you said..."i wouldn't want to rush into something on a $40,000 car until i knew what i was doing!!!!!!".. thanx, glen

Ok so now my question is....Does 4DSC's original statement hold water now? Not flaming but saying that maybe your response should have been: I DONT KNOW HOW TO CHANGE THE AIR FILTER ON AN E90. IF NOONE ELSE ANSWERS GO TO THE DEALER AND ASK THEM.....sounds a MUCH, MUCH less inflammatory than your original statement. Remember dude this is a forum that gets noobs every single day....the mods would spend half their time banning people by your rules. The more "forum" savvy they become the less mistakes they make. GET IT? And it wasnt a bandwagon as I responded(flamed if you will) to you before epj3 did......

Well Marc.. My original statement wasn't actually this one. The original is located in the first thread by katsbimmer in the E90 section which had no flaming what so ever from me. I think that one holds way more water then this one. But yeah, I know what your sayin about the rest..

Yes she did. Post 32. Very proud of her. It's a good start to learning her car and enjoying it without being held hostage by a mechanic. Plus, she was thick skinned and kind enough to return and post how she did it for the benefit of others. Thank you katsbimmer

And yes, we let lots of newbie activity slide. Most forums aren't very newbie friendly. I hold the view that if you're too harsh on newbies, you kill off potential fans of the brand. The mods here don't like to be nazi's in terms of banning. It's gotta be obvious SPAMming some commercial product or something like that. Posting a question asking for help in 2 forums isn't gonna result in an immediate ban. For many people, this is their first luxury car and it can be unnerving to be working on a $40K car and it's accompanying reputation.

BMW's and their owners have a bad enough reputation as it is. If you want to be elitist and brag about your skills with a wrench while bashing any new owner to come along, this is NOT the forum to do it in. Our new members are actually quite well behaved and not very trollish, compared to other sites I'm on. As such, it helps lend to the newbie friendly and helpful personality I feel this board has.
