I enjoyed reading the dream car thread. But it made me wonder, what is the worst car YOU have ever driven?

I'll start with my 1977 Chevy Chevette. Four door, luggage rack on the roof, AM radio, blood red. I was stuck in this thing from high school through college (there was a lack of funding, I'm afraid). Not exactly a babe magnet. I lost track of how many times the thing stalled on me at stop signs. Fortunately I had a good sense of humor.

I think I have everyone beat on this one. Back in poland we used to have a Fiat 126p. Now a fiat 126p is much smaller than a mini, MUCH crappier by a lot. Has around 26hp, and it takes about 20sec to 60mph. Its that bad..

The worst car you've ever driven. You don't have to admit to owning it if you don't want to.

Technically, my parents owned that Chevette I was stuck driving (it scarred me for life, I'm afraid).

My friend had a really old Mazda POS sedan, it was one of those REALLY old ugly, small boxy cars. It was a legend at our high school. Definitely never let him down, believe it or not, but it was just a true and utter piece of shit. And the seniors got a kick out of it because we all drove nice expensive cars (private high school) and everybody loved ragging on it, including the kid himself. It was stick shift and easy as hell to drive, so I had a good time with it, lol.

Of the four cars I've had, the Jetta 2.0 was probably the "worst car" but I wouldn't call it a bad car at all. It was a great car for its price.

The worst car I ever drove would have to be a rental Dodge Neon... seconded by that bmw of manhattan POS 325i loaner. The worst I ever owned.... eh I'd say most unhappy owning would have to have been the 03 325i, and I didn't really own it. (BMWFS did)

Worst car I've ever driven was a 1987 ford mustang lx (5.0). Just a horrible car IMO. Worst car my family has owned would probably be the pontiac montana. Just full of problems.

Worst car I've ever owned - 83 GMC S15 Jimmy (same as S10 Blazer). Engine rebuilt at 50K miles, swapped at 110K miles. Horrible build quality.

Worst car I've ever driven - First model year Dodge Intrepid owned by the company I work for. After 3 years, everything was failing - engine electrical, lights, radio, dash board, braking system, etc. etc. Total junk, worse than the S15 Jimmy.

Well, I've only had two cars - my bimmer and my Camaro, and I still have both. They are very different cars, so I can't say one is worse than the other.

The worst vehicle I've ever driven was a 1982 Ford F-150 4x4 long-bed with a 12" lift kit and 30 some inch tires. One of my buddies was looking at buying it, so we spent a day test driving it. Let me tell ya, this thing was MONSTROUS!!! It didn't have any step rails, so you had to lift your leg up and put a foot on the door sill, then reach up and grab the steering wheel to hoist yourself up in the thing. It had a 351 Cleveland and C6 automatic transmission. The two of us drove up to the guy's house - a trailer in redneck city - to pick the thing up for the day. My buddy wanted to make sure it didn't blow any smoke or anything, so he wanted me to drive it first while he followed behind and watched the exhaust. He encouraged me to drive her hard.

Well, I haven't mentioned yet that while this thing was monstrous in size, it was also a monstrous piece of crap. The speedo didn't work, so I had no idea how fast I was going. And, if you've ever driven a big, jacked up truck like that, you know it is impossible to estimate your speed. The front suspension bushings were shot, so the thing wandered all over the road. One of the back tires had a moderately fast leak, so we had to stop and fill it back up every hour or so. The transfer case was shot, so the 4 wheel drive didn't work. Oh, and it was missing the front bumper and the seat belts.

Anyhow, I almost killed myself in the thing. As I was driving down the road wide-ass open with my friend following me, the thing is wandering all over the road since the front suspension bushings are shot. I come over a hill in the road at probably about 55 mph, and when the front suspension partially unloaded at the crest of the hill, the truck veered into the oncoming lane. Yes, there were cars there. So, I slammed on the brakes. However, I didn't know that there was only one working brake on the truck - the driver's side front brake. The driver's side front tire locked up, and the back end of the truck started to come around on me. I let off the brake and countersteered into the slide. I remember feeling the entire worn-out front solid axle shift under the frame of the truck. When that front axle shifted, the truck's weight abruptly transferred to the driver's side of the truck, and the damn thing almost rolled on me. I somehow miraculously managed to get control of the thing and prevented it from rolling. My friend later told me that when the front axle shifted, and the truck started leaning, the passenger side rear wheel came up off of the road - he thought I was going into a barrel roll in the thing.

Man, that thing was a piece. But, we had a ton of fun with it that day.

It's not that bad, but I hated my Jeep Cherokee. Well, I liked the colors, but that's about it. Seats were painful if you sat in them for over 1 hour (easy to do w/ our traffic), sucked gas like crazy (11 mpg really hurts to a high school kid), took turns like a pig, remote only worked if you pointed it straight at the sensor and were about 2 feet away (as close as the actual door lock), etc. Least it was fast up to 40 mph.

i had to drive an older geo prism hatch back for a week. It wasn't scary falling apart or anything but was by far the most unenjoyable car to drive. Little tin can scary if i would have wrecked and SOOOOO dang boring to drive. Often though of how i could detroy it without hurting myself while driving it.

I also had an old 52 horsepower diesel jetta SO slow. But i actually really liked the car.

Without a doubt my 1995 SAAB 900 (the new body style :)

Bought the car (unfortunately not leased), and 6 days later the car would not start, went through 3 Master Computer brains, endless electrical adjustment, rattles, squeaks, interior panels falling off (yes, literally), heater not working (I mean the car is made is frickin Sweden...who needs heat?)

But the cherry on the sundae was that I kept telling the dealer my brakes did not feel right, and they did not stop in time...after numerous service visits, and even a Factory Rep confirmed the brakes were "perfect"...I kept on driving. One day on Ventura Blvd, here in the San Fernando Valley, I was driving along, the light turned red, I began to apply light pressure on the brake pedal....and all of a sudden all my instrument warning lights and chimes went off, and the brake pedal went to the floor & my SAAB would not stop. There was someone in the crosswalk and I still thank god that they were young, and were able to jump out of the way, and the cross traffic was able to stop. Literally this scene was a nightmare to me.

14 months Lemon Law suit, SAAB refused to settle and in the end the replaced an Ignition Switch, that caused 90% of all my electrical problems, including the brakes. Excluding the 14 months the car was on blocks, I drove it until Sept. 11, 1998. I then got my 1999 C280 Sport, and until this day that is still the BEST car I have ever had.

When I was in and out of College my girlfriend had a "78" Chevy Chevette, two door, cream color, and 4 speed manual gearbox. I use to borrow it when my "78" 280z was in the shop.

One morning while I was going to work in March of "91" there was a freak, out-of-the-blue snowstorm. I was traveling on Dash Point Rd in Federal Way, WA. (For Big D. to know where this is) and I was rounding a corner when a Cadillac traveling south came across the center median (just at the apex of the corner) and hit me head-on on the driver side front. This almost killed me.

The Fire Dept. had to cut me out of the car. I had massive injuries, which I still suffer from some today, and was in the Hospital for a week and after I was laid up at home for about 2 months. It was so bad it even totaled the huge Cadillac.

So I have to say the Chevette was by far the worst car I have ever driven. That and a Geo Storm hatch (rental in Hawaii) 3 cylinder....

My parent had a 1991 Eagle POS Premier. My father still has it and sinks in $500 to $1200 a year in repairs.

2x wiper motor. How many times have you seen this and twice.
engine swap ( when under warranty ).
suspension - the back end dropped a bit and chew'd up the rear tire
2x muffler. ( my 1997 4runner still has the original )
CV joint and boot
Rack and pinion
Parking brake
All the instrument gauges flaked out.
closing windows don't align at speeds above 55
entire head liner sagging

The above list pretty much happened within the 1st 3 yrs - minus the rack and pinion. There a bunch of others but cannot seem to remember.
