Hey,

I've had this video for a while and it's pretty cool to watch, so I figured I'd share it with all of you. This is a Best Motoring video, all the drivers look pretty darn good. The race is among a Nissan 350Z Track Edition, a Honda S2000 (original 2.0L motor), a BMW M3 regular 6-speed, a Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 (280hp twin turbo, 4WD), and a Porsche Boxster. The Skyline GT-R is not really a competitor as it is the designated camera car, and the video is about how the 350Z does against the other vehicles so the Skyline will be focusing on the Z.

A couple notes:
-There is usually a designated "under-powered" car of these Best Motoring videos. In this case, it is the Boxster.
-The Boxster and the S2000 are forced to keep their roofs open which slightly affects straight-line acceleration.
-The track is a bit wet, so the Skyline GT-R with 4WD has the advantage.
-The M3 driver is passive for almost the first half of the race.
-The Porsche is so slow, but sounds sooo good. [:D]

Biased towards the Japanese cars? What I like about these guys is that they'll drive the living crap out of anything, and they don't hate on the car if it's FWD or AWD or RWD.

If they didn't have that Skyline in the way the race would have been better, they could have easily put it infront so it didn't get in the way of any of the cars starting off.

all that Skyline did was protect the Z from getting beat. Notice that the Sky went to the front ASAP and the M3 just decided to "watch". Knowing that the others were not close to the Z, the skylines job was to keep the Z up front from the M3 until it was too late to catch up. Its a Nissan promo video, of course it needs to win. All the props to the drivers though, they sure can tear some tires up.

Great video Emile, its too bad the M3 was sort of cutoff by the Skyline at the beginning. Overall it was a good race.

Hehehe, I told you guys that the M3 was passive in the beginning. It's not a promo video for Nissan or anything, it's just a Best Motoring video. Give it one more lap and the M3 would have caught the 350Z. The M3 (or any of the other cars) will not take a Skyline GT-R on a track which is why it was the cam car.

The problem with the M3 is that it got stuck behind the S2000. Although the M3 has more power, the S2000 is a much lighter vehicle and does extremely well entering and exiting those tight corners. If you watch the pass through the BMW's cockpit, the S2K driver did go into the turn too wide and too fast and ended up going into a bit of a slide, so the M3 was able to pass him. If anything, this video demonstrates how great of a sports car the S2000 is for the money.

The results should not have been surprising to you guys as all of the cars on the track are sports cars and just because the M3 wears the BMW logo on its hood, it doesn't mean it's just going to win the race without any trouble.

As for the Nissan Skyline GT-R, it has a 280hp 2.6 liter twin turbo 4-cylinder motor and 4WD (0-60 in ~5 seconds). The GT-R is more about superb handling as it is a no-compromise sports car, around the same territory as a Porsche 911.

If the M3 is just as fast if not quicker than the GT-R to 60 at least then why was it able to cut the M3 off, like previously said someone wasn't driving to the cars full potential...

Dude you're saying this on a forum where people hate honda simply BECAUSE it's a japanese company. Don't bother arguing!

The track does not have many straight-aways and the twin turbo motor gives the Skyline massive low-end torque for hard acceleration out of the turns. The car is a monster when it comes to handling and the 4WD helps it stick to the road like glue.

For comparison, the Porsche 911 accelerates as fast to 60mph as an M3 but the 911 is still a better sports car simply because it offers an amazing level of handling.

The Skyline GT-R was the CAMERA CAR, it was not really a competitor. It is like throwing a Porsche 911 into that mix of S2000, M3, 350Z, and Boxster....it simply does not belong as it is a higher level of performance car and its purpose was to show you how the other cars (mainly the Z) looked on the track going through the turns.

Yeah, if it were actually competing they should have brought in an M3 CSL...
