Tom, I'll post their name after I hopefully get my money........paranoid if someone from there reads this and gets pissy before they get to the dealership on Monday...........

I'm a stickler too about who works on my car..........but the dealership does not install GPS tracking systems and I get 25% off of my insurance....

My dealership is the best ever, even my salesman called on Saturday morning, he had been in Atlanta all week and heard through the grapevine upon return.....they are all very concerned and will try to help any way they can......I have never walked in that dealership without every person greeting me, shaking my hand, coming by my SA's desk to say hello....at least I got one thing in my favor..........[thumb]

They All Lived Happily Ever After

nah really, I won't know until Wednesday, so far this morning, he has agreed to pay the $465.00 charge from last week, but he wants me to go to another BMW dealership in Houston. He doesnt trust my dealership now after the $465.00 charge that he felt was outrageous. The other BMW dealership he does work for and trusts them. I am meeting with the Manager of the other dealership tomorrow to go over what I feel and my dealership feel should correct the problem (they wrote it all down for me). If all agreed, the installer is supplying me with a car and have an appt. on Wednesday. My objective is for my car to remain in warranty, BMW certify the work that is performed, replace the tracking system with a new module and that my car is working properly. Hopefully, a happy ending is just around the corner.[;)]

For the finale................

The owner of the install company has been amazing, almost scary. The other dealership has stated that the wiring job was professional and that my dealership is blowing smoke and trying to get my money. There was nothing that would require a new wire harness. THis dealership feels that the battery has a bad cell that started all these problems and will be testing it in the morning. Yes, the GPS could be a problem and will be taken out and the installer has offered to refund all my money for the GPS system and the install charge, plus he is paying the BMW dealership to do all the work so that it is warranted and recorded with BMW. The GPS2000 system is not within BMW's or other high end cars' specifications of 50 mamp. The dealership feels this would still not of caused all my problems unless I let the car sit for weeks without being driven, which he now knows the car is driven every day. The installer owner also brought me his car to drive while mine is being worked on..........he has bent over backwards apologizing. He already wrote me a check for the $465.00 from last week. So, all in all, there are still good honest people in business........I have to admit, he may be the first, but there is a Santa after all............

What's crazy about this........my service technician was awarded as BMW's Number 1 Service Technician in the United States.........and I trust immensely........but the other dealership says they are blowing smoke.........how can two dealerships be so far apart..........and why would the new dealership take on the liability by performing the work.........my dealership would not perform this service on someone elses work and take on the liability...[???1] [???1]

This is not uncommon, 2 BMW dealerships in the same area, competing for business. They are for themselves, they do not have a common goal for the benefit of BMW. They will screw BMWNA to make money! This I know from personal experiences! My dealership has tried to screw me several times, I only go to them if I HAVE to. My own BMW mechanic (private) has had lots of problems with the dirty tricks that the dealerlship here pulls. On one case, he got a lawyer and the dealership backoff and paid for damages. ****ing sharks and wolves!

Well I am glad this story has a happy ending. It is amazing how a dealarship cound try to rip you off. When ever I take the mdx in and there is a problem no matter how little it is they will take me to the car and show me everything about it. Luckaly there rilly has never been any major problems except the pinched gasket when I first got the car.

Holy Shmoly I just read this thread for the first time....All I can say is "Is this real or is it all a nightmare?".

How can the dealer give you such a line of crap about your wiring harness being all torn up by the install when it wasn't?

I hope you will be reporting all this to BMWNA as that first dealership needs a serious reaming!!!

I wouldn't wish what you are going through on anyone.......

MyHarley,
I say you should get a lawyer to write the first dealership a nice courtesy letter, for trying to rip you off! And also report to BMWNA. "Most" dealers are the same, they will rip you off without mercy. Especially when they can blame an outsider for having messed up with the car. They shouldn't be allowed to get away just like that. Nail them all with every opportunity for honest future dealings for all of us.

In the defense of my dealership, they wrote a long summation about the wiring harness and the unprofessional wiring job.........and it is on-file with BMWNA...........the new dealership that did the work (got the car back this evening) has also wrote a long summation that the wiring harness and wiring job were professional and all components used were the same connectors BMW uses.......and this also is on-file with BMWNA.......the new dealership also performed a battery test and the cells and everything about the battery is good (just like my dealership said)......in a couple of days, BMWNA should be calling about each of the dealerships since everything is on-file with them........we'll be discussing everything at that time.......I'm still a little leary about how smooth this new transaction went, got all monies back, gave me a car to drive, installed a new tracking device called Intertrac (web-site trackmenow.com), (which meets BMW specs)........and didnt cost me a penny...........they washed and waxed the car while it was there and programmed the lights to flash when I unlock the car.........all for nothing........the performance guy even said we could have lunch next week.........I feel like a turkey before Thanksgiving...........plumping me up for the kill..........

TONIGHT............I am just so thankful to have my car back...........took a drive for a couple of hours, its 68 degrees, top down with the wind deflector, the engine is still like butter, Glen Campbell singing about Galveston on the CD........life is good for a little while..........[wiggle]

Yikes! What a horror!

MyHarley - In light of this most recent issue with your original dealer, I can't help but recall the other issues you had at that dealer with the car - the tires, wheels, all those other problems. It really makes me wonder about them......[:0]

You all would be snickering too...........life is just bizarre.............

Now my cruise control does not work........I called the new dealership and he said, "oh, they probably just forgot to plug it back." I said, "do you think they might of forgot to plug anything else back."[???1]

And now for my grand finale this weekend...........

Saturday was errand day, needless to say the car was packed, had the top down, sitting in my driveway. I had carried a lot in the house and was about to drop one load, so I set the 2 liter diet coke down at the entrance to the garage, my neighbor came over to chit chat for about 30 minutes.........she leaves, I get in the car, drive forward, and a miniature explosion is what I hear with a 5 foot stream of diet coke in my sight.......I immediately back up and get out to inspect.........cant find the diet coke 2 liter anywhere, so I figure it rocketed up underneath the car somewhere...........lay on the driveway trying to peek under the car and I cant see anything by all four wheels except dripping diet coke, hunt all over my garage and yard, still no 2 liter bottle........I'm panicking........drive up the street to a auto repair place and ask how much is charged to put the car up on a rack........he says it depends on what we are looking for, I tell him I can identify the object if I see it, he says, okay, give the details, what are you looking for, I tell him a 2 liter diet coke bottle,,,,,he just falls over laughing......and then says, didnt I just see you talking with a woman at a house down the street.....(now I'm thinking, is this for real)......he and his mechanic were doing a test drive and he said he commented to his mechanic as he passed about the BMW in the driveway...and 30 minutes later I show up....FX episode.......he then checks out the car and says there is no diet coke bottle...........continues to laugh and offers to come look for the diet coke bottle............I ask how much and he says I cant charge you for the best laugh of the week......now who's looking stupid.......and he knows where stupid lives...........on the way home I see the diet coke bottle laying in the road........it must of fallen off on the drive up to the repair shop.........[rofl] [rofl] [rofl]

you know guys, I think it is time to stay home and read a good book.......no telling what is coming up on the horizon..........[confused] (we need a really good emoticon for "stupid"

LMAO here at work . this thread really had some "ups and downs" to say the least . first time reading it so I got the full effect ..very funny about the diet coke and your reluctance to tell the mechanic what you were looking for ..

good luck with everything and thanks for sharing the experience..

I just read this whole thread, UNBELIEVABLE! Coke bottle story is just icing on the cake. As for the whole wiring deal, here's my 2 cents. Trust no one. They are all after one, well maybe two, things. One of them is your money. Has the local repair guy called you yet?
