First that's incredibly dangerous, and I believe that would get your ass kicked around here...
That's hillarious (they're welcome to call me out of my car anytime), I do it in PA too and it's not dangerous. You're probably thinking I race up to 100 in an all out effort to keep them behind me on an empty road which isn't the case (thats rediculously immature and trivial). If the road is empty and someones coming on fast behind me in the left, I just switch lanes to let them pass. My problem is when there is moderate traffic and the SUV wants to pass me for the sake of passing and a minute later becomes an encumbrance to me as I have to end up PASSING THEM and the pattern continues... Some of these expedition and navigator drivers in particular seem to have a complex where they have to be the left-lane hog and if there is anyone in front of them it's an eyesore. Keep in mind that in moderate traffic 80 is the upper limit as to what you can safely do without having to ride the brakes because you just caught the next left lane hog.

Oh in that case I'm like you. I hate suv's, and I hate when people fly by me, then slow down making me pass them...grrr. Yesterday I was stuck behind an excusion which was driving like an ass, when they turned off, an escalade pulled out in front of me at the last second. My favorite time is when I drive with my cruise set to a nice and steady 75, people come up next to me fast, then slow down and just kind of hang there and get pissed at me...all while my speed never changes [bash]

Hey hey hey now... I drive around New Jersey a lot with my New York plates and I have exceptional road manners. I have noticed that New Jerseyans tend to exhibit symptoms of difficulty staying in their lane, forgetting to use turnsignals, and often racing their cars to get absolutely nowhere. Today I had a Nissan floor it off the toll plaza only to slam on his brakes to crawl behind a semi taking a turn at 25mph, all that gas and in the end I was right behind him with my feather-foot.

But I do admit New Yorkers are no angels, I have a bad habit of sitting in the left lane doing 75-80 and letting SUV's tailgate me to the point where they switch lanes to pass and I gradually accelerate with minimal effort as they gun their gas guzzling V8's only to inch forward slightly back beside me till they eventually get back where they belong... (to avoid rear ending the slower traffic in their lane) behind me.[hihi]
Better not see me in the rear view mirror then =P, ill show you what my 'gas guzzling V8' can do..

Although whenever there's an NJ plate on NYC street, you cant help but curse them, putting a NJ driver onto these roads is like throwing a mouse into a room with dozens of cats. Always undecided, no idea how to switch lanes.. The other day I was coming from brooklyn, ahead of me theres a NJ driver, cuts off another car, when I pass I notice that their right side mirror is folded.. My question is, how the hell can you NOT use your mirrors, it baffles the mind when I see people turning around to switch lanes..

My bad habit is that on NYC streets I can be a complete ass sometimes, but considering how much traffic there is I need to be in order to get anywhere. When theres enough traffic I often cut into other lanes to get moving faster, although with the Merc I tend not to do that as im afraid to scratch her..

heh heh... I don't do that to luxury suv's (as I said before it isn't a race to keep you behind me) besides I have yet to be tailgated by an ML or X5 who wants to pass me so they can sit in front of me at 80 because my bumper is boring them... Also you're SUPPOSED to turn around and look before you switch lanes, and I feel just like you with the ML in NYC traffic I'm affraid to do anything too agressive that will scratch my 330i.

BTW if you're ever behind me in the AMG ML maybe i'll make an exception and gun it and see how well you can keep up, (believe me she flies to 120) just remember my car is limited to 128 so thats when the race ends. [driving] [joke]

Hi, First of all, using the term "going postal" is very derogatory to those of us that are proud to work for the postal service. Yes, there are bad postal employees, just as there are bad employees of any other business in this great country of ours, but you don't hear the term "going retail", where there is actually more violence than within the postal service. I've driven in many States throughout this fantastic nation we call home, and yes, I've seen some pretty stupid manuevers in many of them, including my home State of NJ. That is one of the reasons we have the highest insurance rates in the country. Of course, we have more drivers in a small area, that helps increase this statistic. Like the old joke says, most accidents happen within 20 miles of home.....that's why I moved. LOL

What I meant by turning around is, relying only on that, I understand that in some situations you do need to turn around.. ( especially in suvs, damn blind spots. ) but cmon not everytime when changing a lane, thats what your mirrors are for. Everytime you turn around your not watching whats happening ahead of you, and suppose someone happens to stop while your turning around to switch lanes.. [bath]

Heh my girl flies to 120+ too, and then on to a lovely 147... ( 00's and 01s limited to 147 =/ ) The ML has such ridiculous power it is truly scary. Suppose your cruising at 100, and then floor it, the whole car comes alive and keeps going like a rocket.. [driving2]

Umm, NJ has good insurance rates, Brooklyn has THE highest rates of the country, even Manhattan has lower rates.

I don't see the point of staying in the left lane when the right lane is clear, it just makes no sense. The rules state that you should stay to the right unless passing. I don't want to get anywhere by saying that so I will not respond to anyone who disagrees with what I just said.

About turning around. A few years back I was driving on the highway and started changing lanes after checking the mirrors only to get an earfull of a Chevy's horn, since then I always quickly jerk my head on the direction I am about to go to make sure there is nobody there unless I am absolutely sure it is clear.

About NJ drivers. Since I started driving I found most NJ drivers to be sort of lost on the road, maybe because it is NY and not NJ but I've noticed that in NJ too. I've noticed that with a lot oh NY drivers too just not that concentraited i guess. Just my opinion though.

OK you can keep switching to the right lane/middle lane and back every 25 seconds since you're leftlane-phobic that's fine with everyone else. If you were reading more closely and attentively you would have noticed that the right lane WAS NOT CLEAR and thats why I stayed in the left maintaining my speed.

My condolences to your high insurance rate... (btw NJ does not have good rates)
