Stingray - GM marketing to trash another badge just like GTO

Motor Trend has an article in this month's issue that says GM is considering revivng the Stingray badge - by putting a 250 hp V6 in a rebodied Solstice platform.

What the hell is the matter with these idiots? You would think they would have learned after they came out with the plain, boring GTO and sales suck. But no, now they take ANOTHER GM icon, and instead of building something worthy and significant, they stick it on a rebodied economy roadster.

These people are clueless and desparate. It's no wonder they are in such bad shape. The same issue has an article on the new Challenger. Chrysler gets it - this looks like one bad ass car.

I think the dodge charger SRT8 is one of the most bad-ass looking cars, and easily the most american looking car ON THE MARKET right now. GM's mistake? Trying to look foreign. People who overlook all the shitty stuff about american cars and STILL BUY an american car, buy it because it's american. At least give 'em american looking cars!!

i'm not old enuff to remeber the stingray and i really don't care

as long as the current car performs well they can call it w/e they like

however GM is in such a hole right now that maybe it'd be better if they
closed down...lots of jobs lost but teh gov't wont have to bail them out
anymore...also we will have less crappy cars on the road =]
in that it'll scare other manufacs into doing a better job (hopefully)

Eric I have to agree with you on the Charger, btw all it is is an E-Class, except the body.

Yup, in fact I think a lot of the new chrysler/dodge/jeep vehicles are based off a type of mercedes chassis. Add a supercharger to that car and you got yourself a vette killer [hihi]

Eric I think that is why the Chrysler Group has had such a success by balancing Price, Luxury, Economy and Performance.

Hasn't GM sold a hell of alot of the G6s? I sure see a lot of them.

You being serious about the G6? I've seen maybe 2 of 'em on the road (so if you are being sarcastic then I agree!!)

The thing about Chrysler's new cars - I even said to my dad when we bought the truck a few months ago. The new chryslers are the ONLY "american looking" cars. Hell even Top gear tested the 300 and only hated it a little (which is a good thing for them revieweing an american car). Fords look like they belong in the middle of england, and the new chevy's look like they belong where I can't see them. [rofl]

Yes I see LOTS OF G6s even if I go up to Minneapolis I see lots of them, don't know? Cheap cars lots of kids drive them.

I have to say I think Ford is more American, my Dad bought (two) of the new F-150s I actually like it :)! I think it is well built (by American car standards), and I think the new Exploder will be a good vehicle too, they are reliable and I have to laugh at the fools that buy a Toyata Titdra because the Ford is a much better truck.

BTW the only reason I have a GMC truck is because a buddy of mine owns a GMC/International truck dealership, it is a good truck too though, and that's all I have to say about that.

Phat Bimmer why don't you change your subtitle from Honda/Nissan Hater to Asian Auto Hater, AAH for short. Would you like to become a member in my new Club AAH! Or see if you can guess this one DLAA?

I agree. I was pretty impressed with the new ford F150's. They did a LOT to make them better than the previous model (the one that would kill you in a fender bender) and they are so quiet inside. My dad's 1500 is really nice too - it's still got those "GM traits" like doors that are heavy but are somehow as solid as an empty soda can.

Yeah, I really like the new Mopars too. Great styling, lots of power, and a reasonable price. If I was going to buy a new car they'd be on my list. GM should have done with the GTO that Dodge is doing with the Challenger. From everything I've read, the GTO is actually a pretty good car bang for the buck-wise. And I like the Solstice. Most new GM products from the Cobalt to the Caddys are getting great reviews. Hopefully they haven't damaged their reputation too badly with the junk they built 10 or 20 years ago.

Did you know the F150 is the best selling vehicle ever? The Toyata Cumery has sold millions but the F150 has sold hundreds of millions.
Both the "Toyata Cumery" and the F150 have staunchly loyal customers. These people wouldn't even consider buying anything else--they just buy a new one every few years. I don't get it, but I'm sure there are some BMW fans like that too.

Yes but you are also forgetting that ford bends over backwards for businesses when buying their vehicles. Why do you think so many 'company cars' are fords? When you see blue collar people going to a work site, what do they use? Fords! When you see "Leakstopper Plumbers" logo on the side of a fleet of trucks or vans what are they? Fords.

Personally I think owners of BMW, Mercedes and Audi have a tighter base of repeat customers contray to biased reports (AKA CR), than pretty much any brand out there.
