The oil light came on, i got oil, put it in and accidently dropped the oil cap down below the engine. heres where i ****ed up- i temporarily plugged the uncapped oil hole with a sock and the sock got sucked into it after about 5 mins of driving. its wrapped around the cam shaft-im pretty sure thats what it is... and i need some advice on how to get it out without shelling a shitload of money out to bmw to take it in there.

I feel real bad for the guy though [xx(] but its so unbelivable that someone would do such a thing. I've seen some crazy things but thats just incredible. [ohcrap]

Haha instead of using a free service to have it towed, and probably have a free new oilcap put on, he shoved a sock in a $24,000 engine.

The latest in performace mods:

"Wanna get 7 hp gain really cheap? Replace your oil cap with a sock - it let's your engine breathe better!"

Oh goodness Kirby I was laughing at the sock and then I saw your comments and fell out of my chair...oh crap!!! Sock it to me!
I hear taping a sock to the inside of your wheel keeps your brakes from getting wet. Damn what are socks NOT good for?????

Well, SINCE YOU ASKED, here is another good use, according to legend: [hihi]

"In days of old,
when knights were bold,
and rubbers weren't invented,
they tied a sock,
around their c***,
and had to be contented."

Who said BMW fans had the brightest of the bunch? I gotta give it to him for having balls to post something like that and atleast he realised he was wrong instead of saying it was someone elses fault.

From being members of a few different forums in the past, I would say the bmw forums are pretty much near the bottom in terms of wrenching ability.
