geesh, at first i didn't even come into this thread, thinking it was some joke, but man those pics are messed up.

i say if all else fails, wait, even before that call your insurance company and explain the situation. have their claims adjuster come out to take a look see. maybe they have experience w/ stuff like this, and should be covered under comprehensive, or even free since it wasn't your fault. (make sure you lower the comp premium back to like 100 if you had it at 250 or 500 [:D] then report [;)]

so took it to the dealership again today

they have one of those 'fixer-upper' departments for their used/older cars. those guys are usually pretty good about fixing probs such as this. apparently they are just as baffled about it. basically everyone have different opinions about what the material is and ways to go about getting it off. Some say its acid that ate through the glass, some say its shaving cream that dried up during the night, etc. I'm seriously hoping that a shaving cream didn't 'eat' into the glass as they call it because thats makes it seem like its some weak glass then! =T But they tried to use the razor as mentioned in some of the post and some of the white dried stuff came off, however the main white marks are still on there. guess it doesn't work .... =T the surprising thing about it is that the white stuff was on the paint of the car, it came off surprising easy. a simple wash down took care of that.

so what now? tomorrow, gonna have a family friend that knows an auto detailer that "Might" (highly doubt it) be able to whip up some chemicals to clean it. if not, then its brand new glass and tint! [for those that were asking, my car is a '04 330ci ... only 1 month old] just want to thanks for everyone for their post and replies. much thanks. i brought the car for myself ... an early b-day present and now i guess i'll be getting new glass for x-mas eh~?

hopefully nothing like this will happen to you guys. not just having to spend $ getting new glasses, but the time going to cops, dealership, time off work, running around ... just not worth it, especially during the holiday seasons. nonetheless, wish you all the best for the upcoming year!

ps. regarding the kid ... if u happen to read on any forum or post about any car that gets badly damaged ... it ain't me!!! [:D]

Wow
That some serious damage for a "prank"
It sucks- and is equally strange -that the glass was damaged but the
paint escaped damage;I'd have thought that it would be the opposite!
IDEA=since you have "shaved" off the first layer, try some MILD abrasive (like the
clorox tile cleaner) on the glass to buff it out , then maybe put some RAINX on it since it is essentially a glass sealant
good luck !!!

If i have to change new windshield ... (i have an idea whom it might be) ... that kid is going down. Now I just graduated and brought my own first car and lets just say there will be 'hell' to pay!
Ok, let's say this guy's name is 'Jim.' Here's what you do.

1) Take a notecard, and space out the words "Mommy Daddy Jim" on the card evenly, so the text takes up the whole length of the card.

2) Put that notecard text-side-up inside his mailbox

3) Take 3 bullets and put one on each of the three names listed on the notecard.

4) He opens up the mailbox, craps his pants, and you're good.

thanks for the reply ...

already took it to the car wash .. and they can't do jack ... paid 30 bucks to do the details and stuff. The stuff on the paint is off but windshield .. its another case .. its still on there. took it to the dealership and the service guys have no idea .... asked the local car shops, all they can suggest is paint thinner.

as for the kid ... no comment .. its being handled.
all I can say is.......jeez![mad]

I agree with militant grunt// looks like spray paint, but then the mess on your bodywork wouldn't have come so clean so easy. Unless he is a truly devious bastard who used two different methods to ruin your day, one for the body, one for the glass. Good luck

its official ...

the bad news:
scheduling an appointment to get the windows replaced. thats 4 pieces ...
and after much debate/talk the white stuff is indeed shaving cream. [confused]
did a lil side experiment and the results came out similar.

the good news:
pay only $500 cuz insurance covers most of it and learned something new about shaving cream [rolleyes]

the excellent news:
eye for an eye! [hihi]

unfortunately, someone just vandalized my 01 cic conv last sunday. I just called my insurance company and I will have to pay the deductable which is 500. She told me that my insurance wont go up being that it was vandalized but now you have an excuse for every ding, scratch, or whatever to get fixed all for the amount you pay for your deductable. So its not all that bad. Revenge was just an added bonus.

Just a thought... check your policy for "full glass coverage" it only costs an extra couple of dollars and my agent just puts in it for me. you don't pay any deductable with it. if you don't have it and you have a jealous vandal in your life, it is something you definetly want to look into
