Score one for the Bimmerman.

I didn't like the fin at first, but after seeing it on so many cars, I guess there's no getting around it. Everyone has one now. Even my stepdad's Element has one (even though I guess it's an "aftermarket" sharkfin) for his setellite radio.

My only question is why couldnt they built the antenna into the rear windows or something like a lot of american cars? Its not like the radio reception is that bad or anything!!

I agree. I like the shark fin - I think it's cool looking, but I don't understand why they couldn't just integrate the antenna into the rear window. My parents' $28k Impala has the antenna in the rear window, and it works just as well as, if not better than, a standard metal antenna sticking out of the fender.

I dont even have a clue where my e34's antenna is... i assume it's built into the roof under the sheet metal or something?

i like the face lift. the big ole butt still needs some shaving, but you can't ask for all that much at once. i like the new light, which looks to be based on those found in the 04+ Ci, just softer and looking better imo. only issue i have w/ the face lift is the contiunity of the theme. front makes the car look smaller, where as the trunk makes the car look twice as big. like a girl w/ a small cute face that caught your eye when she was sitting, until she stood up and started swinging her wide ass around..

the shark fin is for bmw assist only. iirc, there was a thread regarding this. bmw for a while has had integrated radio antenna in the rear windshield.

as for the lens on the bottom, at first i thought it might be night vision (as found in few luxury rides like the LX470, and few caddy models.) but it prolly is the laser cruise ctrl or something. i've never seen one, so i don't really know, but that seems to make the most sense.

I like it. I should be ready for a new bimmer in a couple of years and was hoping they'd make the 7 series more attrractive. Things are looking up. The car looks less bulky.

Now they need to improve the looks of the 5's to make them sleeker. Technology isn't everything...

I think the 7-Series looks a ton better. My mom has an old one and it looks like a bus, the redesign makes it looks like a BMW.

I agree with you guys...I like the "shark fin". I have the same thing on my 04 E46 M3, and it adds a little to the top, I feel like a great white that goes 0-60 in 4.8 seconds!

I agree, if they could facelift the new 5 - then they are back on track as far as I'm concerned. The new 7 series rear end looks alot like the 6 series rear - and the 6 looks fine to me all-around as is.

There's hope yet!

The antenna is built into the rear window, just like my OLD 5er. The "shark fin" is purely for BMW assist and GPS location...if you have a navsystem

Yeah, but I don't think it is necessary. For example, my car has DVD navigation, AM/FM radio (obviously), and is pre-wired for satellite radio. There is no visible antenna on my car....supposedly, it is integrated into the rear window but I have NO clue where it is....it's like part of the glass or something, definitely cool because I hate car atenna, even the small sleek ones that Mercedes uses on their vehicles.
