I just cant wait for reactions. [poke] [chair] [bmwkick] [rofl] [rofl] [8)]

Well, after much debate and shopping around I finally gave in on the minivan. My wife, the one that was completely against the idea of a minivan now wants only a minivan.

So here it is:

2005 Honda Odyssey
A furious 255 HP VTEC [driving2] [burnout] [hihi]
Engineered to drive like a European luxury sedan (Honda said it, not me) [fake]
DVD
4 captains chairs W/ 3rd row folding bench
Power doors
Front, Side, and curtain airbags
Dual frame (ACE) body structure for impact energy dispersion

But I bet I will still be able to take most ricers in this thing. [:)]

Seriously, we looked at everything and it’s just so hard to find the needed space for mostly kid’s stuff that just won’t fit in many vehicles.

So if all goes well (I think [scratch]) I should see it in about 6 weeks.

imagine: the minivan has more ponies than your zhp [bmwkick]... oh wait, wrong icon [:p]

getting a minivan isn't so bad. as long as you keep your distance, and she's the only driver for it. couldn't convince her to get a mdx or pilot or something huh?

as long as you are not trading in your zhp, like someone else in sin city.. well try to enjoy.. don't forget pics [;)]

If you need the space, nice choice. But if the space is just there, then bad choice. But it sounds like thats what you needed. You could have gotten a Lincoln Navigator, but those are around $60,000 base price. How much was it? I assume around $25,000-$30,000?!?!?! At least it will serve your purpose and not empty your pockects!!! (At least no too bad)

Bryan they are nice vans. I think some people here think I'm all for vans (i hate them...lol...) but they are awesome for long rides. Nothing beats the newer minivans for vacations and stuff, especially since they get half-decent gas mileage (the foreign-makes anyways...)

I have a video of me doing 105 in my parents montana (which was the dumbest thing I've done in my life... but I did it anyways.) They aren't slow.

Thanks everyone!

We are trading an 02 Expedition and they are giving us $22 and the Honda is $31 so not a huge price difference.

We have had a lot of trouble with the Expedition and my wife hates the body roll and I am having nightmares about her driving it so I can’t wait to trade it in.

Don't be ashamed. I have a 2000 Odyssey and it is a great vehicle. It drives very well for a minivan, has room for kids, or drywall or bikes or whatever else you want to throw in. It's nice to have a car you can just use and abuse (not really) without worrying to much about it. Enjoy, I know you will.

Good call. My mom had a blazer and loved it (for some very strange reason...) but the few times I got to drive it, it was a dog when it came to everything except pulling a trailer, and handled horribly. If you would start sliding in snow, I don't know if any of the defensive driving manuvers we've learned over the years would help - it would just roll (seriously...)

Congrats on your mid life crisis HAHAHA just playin. I am lucky...my wife refuses to drive a mini van (wants an A-Class Benz) not sure whats worse. Not that an Odysee is bad, I like them....they look kinda cool....just the whole stigma that comes with a mini van. My time WILL come I am sure

We got the new 2005. Did not get to look at one because they are not out yet but it sounds like a number of improvements over 2004. Should be here in October.
Ahh, so it is the new one. Gotta forgive me, I'm not too current on minivans. [:)] So you got the best minivan then. Congrats. I actually prefer minivans to SUVs cuz SUVs are useless. Trucks do a better job towing/going offroad. Minivans can haul much more stuff and are more efficient.

I drive our Expedition and it feels like a boat that could capsize very easily, especially after driving my car.

I am still planning my mid-life crisis car and I guess I should decide soon. [rolleyes]

The van is actually a very good choice and I am happy with it but I had to joke a bit.

As much as I like cars I am not particularly concerned about them as an image factor; I balance fun, need, and practicality with all that there is in life

I like the Odyssey redesign but still...you can get a fully loaded 2004 RX300 for $36,000 down here in Houston. Great vehicle, great storage, kid friendly!

But alas, if your wife wants the minivan then she'll get it!

Don't ever argue with women, hehe...

Good luck and happy driving!

I agree completely. I am going to take some pictures of the Expedition and then the van after the trade to show the differences in space. I don’t think a lot of people realize how much more room there is in the van. The Expedition is one of the larger SUV’s and is worthless for any storage with the third-row seat in place.

Yeah, as a family, we've gone through four generations of Chrysler Town & Country minivans. They are very roomy and practical and they drive like a car but none of us liked the "soccer mom" image that they project.
SUV's are a great alternative because they have a better image and the good ones are very enjoyable to drive.

Yeah, minivans have a horrible image, but that's ok for my particular family. My parents abuse our cars so that even if they had an Enzo, it'd look like crap in about a year. So, when we buy a people/luggage hauler, it makes more sense to have a minivan. We frequently need to take 7 or 8 people plus luggage and stuff (like to the airport or on trips) and the only SUV that can match a minivan in space is one of those king sized SUVs like a Suburban or Armada or something. Those cost a ton. I'd rather have a 5 series or something instead. Minivans are much cheaper and more practical (plus they fit in our garage). Our old Town and Country got the same mileage as my Bimmer. I shudder to think of what the gas mileage is on my neighbor's Excursion. I used to have a Jeep Cherokee and that little thing already only got 11 mpg. My neighbor's Grand Cherokee got 10 mpg. The Excursion must get like 5 mpg with the way we drive. [hihi]

You should drive the Honda and compare this not only to SUV's but to actual, respected driving cars. There is not even a remote comparison between the Honda and the SUV's like Tahoe, Expedition, Explorer, and so on; they just don't compare, it's like the SUV is a Buick and the Honda is a BMW, it's that different.

I rate the Honda as on par with some of the better American cars for performance and handling. And worlds better than any SUV I have driven except the X5 and the FX45, which are too small in back for some use.
