Pick-up drivers ???

Well so I have a Toyota Tundra, fine truck for regular pick-up use, camping, hauling, towing etc etc...imo most households need a pick-up of some sort for the everyday stuff - needless to say I love having one for my fishing trips.

Now the crazy part !
I have had my M3 for 5-6 months now & I really enjoy hitting the (asphalted)
country road..curves and taking a scenic spirited drive on the week-ends.

What really gets me is my commute to work, I do not look for road race's whatsoever !, but of the times someone has been next to me in "challenge mode"...the highest percentage seems to be "red-neck" truck owners ?? WTF ?? I dont really get it ? do these guys like the abuse handed to them ?

As mentioned I dont LOOK for races with pick-ups...what a waste ! so the few times I have been next to these types I just let them hammer the throttle - then if I am feeling fiesty I just kill them before 2nd gear is even past 6000 RPM's.

I love pick-ups, & own one...just cant figure these dudes out...often times its a Dodge RAM...I know, I know...."It has a HEMI"...lol ! yah !! so freakin what ?? maybe the commercials have went to their heads ??

hehe..I hear ya buddy. I have a Ford Focus and it seems that every truck and Mustang on the road wants to race me. Then when I get in my M3 everyone seems to be on their best behavior.

Napoleon complex? [fake]

Something about guys w/ lifted trucks, they think now that air can flow under the truck easier, they can go faster?

I dunno, it happens everywhere I'm sure, I've seen it here and been the receipient as well. I had a big red Dodge RAM truck riding my arse last week headed to work in the morning. It's not like I was forcing him to go slow, I was behind 2 other slow pokes on a 2 lane twisty no-passing road. The RAM guy coulda read a paper over my shoulder from his front seat if he wanted.. Traffic cleared in front of me, I downshifted, stomped it, I hear his truck bark as he stomps it. I lost him in a twisting climb that I've come to love (ran into a boxster in the same spot a few weeks ago). 3 minutes later we come to a light, 2 other cars have gathered inbetween me and the RAM guy, but I can see him the whole way riding the little Accords butt that was in front of him.. Guess it wasn't just *me* at least!

You're absolutely right about those farmer Dodge pick-up's. 5 months ago when I was driving through some small NJ town (country roads) at a redlight this big black dodge ram (the one with 4 wheels under the flatbed 2 e/s) pickup truck revs his engine and then burns rubber taking off. So me in my 325i after seeing him take off, floors it and catches him at 55 and then I easily pulled away at 80 (5 car spaces). I didn't wanna top 80 anyhow and sure enough he comes right beside me ready for round 2 and we both slow down for the red light. Instead of a round two I just let him waste his gas and tires, afterall it was around midnight and I didn't have the energy or patience for another unfair race.

I think they view their trucks as something special and seeing a BMW decided to feel her out.... how many farmers own or see BMW's on a daily basis anyway?

I like trucks a lot and would deffinatly like it to have a little get up and go but to me, they just aren't a racing vehicle. Of course these "race" trucks (dodge srt-10, ford lightning, etc...) are a little over the top though it would be fun to hop in one now and again.
I don't know what that is..... but it sure isn't a utility pick-up truck [hihi]

That's so weird that pickup trucks try to race you guys. I RARELY race someone in my G....nobody in NJ likes to race at all, lol. The only real race I've ever had was that run-in with the 330Ci and that was it.

Have you guys ever seen the Lightning vs M3 video? These two airheads in a Ford F-150 Lightning are following an M3, thinking they are out-accelerating it on a one-lane road. Then they go on the highway and the whole time, they are totally talking trash about the M3. Then they finally line up on the highway and race and the M3 just walks away from them....silly red-necks !!!!

Some of these people are so funny. Just yesterday I had an idiot in a GMC that thought he was going to show me up. He didn’t.

The one that gets to me the most is the Hummer. What in the hell are these people thinking??? They actually think they are fast???? The problem is if one gets ahead of you on a onramp look out, there goes traffic and I sure hope the people behind the Hummer are not in a hurry because it’s going to be one long and slow merge. Yet the Hummer driver still thinks the thing is a Porsche.

I've always had either a pick-up or suv. This is the first car that I've ever owned. But I know where you're coming from. For some reason, with me having the low to the ground roadster, A-holes enjoy getting right on my rear where all I see is grill in my mirror while I'm sitting a red-light. Some JA in an old dodge p-u was like that the other day and kept creeping closer. I'd move up a couple of inches trying to get him off me. He just kept creeping closer. Of course this pissed me off pretty bad, so being the first one at the light, I dropped the hammer when the light turned green. I see this fool in my rearview trying to catch up. I let off the gas once I hit 80 cuz I was still in city limits and this guy finally makes up his 20 car lengths he was behind me and of course gets right on my ass again!!!!!! Times like this I wish I had some rotten tomatoes or something I could throw over my shoulder to splatter on his windshield.

I wanted to kick myself afterwards for letting some DA in a pickup get to me like that.

"He blocked it" blocked what? what an idiot... An idiot with a pick-up truck and a dirty mouth. "1...2..3 ready" probably ready to get his ass handed to him on a silver plate. [bmwkick]

I would have been ashamed to post that video on the web if I were them...

That clip just made my day. They're calling foul because 'he outturns them'.. "We're in a pickup, so what??" Hah!! Then proceeds to leave them behind like discarded change..

Have to add this one to the collection..

Uhhhhh, yah, it's a utility truck [paranoid] to uhhhh, pull a utility trailer really fast.

Mmmmm, light rear end and a viper engine? When will the wheels stop spinning and get some traction?
