Not bad, very agressive looking. Is it just me or does it appear it is taking a few desing aspects from Volvo. Notice the way the metal meets up with the glass on the doors, its flat, something Volvo is known for. The hood also has some of that rigid V in it, like Volvo's.

I think that car is awesome looking and I am going to wait 2 more years to get it!!! My 2001 330ci is running like a trooper. I do wish it was coming out sooner but hey I am willing to wait. Is it true that BMW is going to put a possible v8 in the new 3 series, I heard something like that??? Does anyone know about that?? I would like to see what the rear looks like too, I hope it doesn't have that hunch back like the 7 and 6 series have. I pray that it comes in AWD too cause that is awesome!

That sounds awesome. I will be a little hesitant to get the first model year of this change, there will probably be many bugs to be worked out with the car. I had that disaster with my 2000 328i, every problem in the world!

Looks awesome !! I am one happy boy, looks like the 3-series will continue to be a sweet car !! The side mirrors do look a little big, but it may just be the angle. If not, then a pair of aftermarket sport mirrors will fix that. [thumb]

those look like they came straight from pontiac[V]

other than that i think the car (from this view) has a lot of potential.
I dunno about the mirrors, they look better than the side view mirrors on our E36, the mirrors on a E36 look like they came off a jeep.[;)]

From all indications, this is a spy photo or some other speculative rendering. Based on your prior observations, how accurate are these "guesses".

Since I'm new to the BMW brand and haven't spent any time in the past researching future vehicles, I'd like your input. It seems quite interesting that many on the board have insider information.

if those mirrors were slightly smaller the car would be a very nice way to kinda "evolve" the E46 shape, but then i wouldnt know, as far as M3's are concerned nothing beats the shape of the current one....

im soo happy they got rid of the "chris bangle effect" this car has agressive writtten all over it, does it say what engine specifications there are on her?
Dunno, Motor Trend did say this though:

http://www.motortrend.com/future/spied/112_2006fvf/

2006 BMW 3 Series: Redesigned. Sedan models roll out first year, with coupe and convertible to join later under name 4 Series. The 3.0-liter inline six expected to increase displacement to 3.5-liters. Six-speed manual expected to be standard equipment.

2006 BMW M5: 5.5-liter/500-horsepower V-10 engine with six-speed manual transmission. Oh baby!

The 2006 M5 sounds OFF THE HOOK.....I bet the price will be also. Weird thing is they said the 3 Series will be spun off in a 4 series with the Coupe and Vert, so what will we have now................3 Series, 4 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series.....also remember the 1 Series intro concept. For a company that changes VERY little over the decades, seems like BMW is undergoing a MAJOR change. Like it or not, all of them will look like the new 7 series front, the new 6 Series is still my favorite, guess if I can sell a kidney and a left nut, might be able to get one.

at first i thought it had too many lines going all over the place, but after staring at it for awhile i like how i can still see the 3 series' shape within the car. Still seems a bit too extreme as is, but i'm sure the production model will definetely be a lil bit more toned down. Nice car overall. However, I did like the new 5 and 7 series. The 7 was a definite improvement cuz the last generation was just looking way outdated. The new 5 just gets a bad rep cuz it has to basically fill in the shoes of a legend and has a lot to live up to.
