Well when they spray salt all over the roads during the winters (worst thing to do EVER), cars really take a beating from that. That's the only good thing about auto washes....they really clean your underbody (where most of the salt sticks to your car) extremely well!
Well pick your poison...Salt in the US or Rocks in Germany. Salt causes corrosion and the rocks they use here in Germany tears up the paint...especially on the autobahn. Can't win. It is just a conspiracy for the paint and repair shops to make money.

It almost looks like it was partially submerged up to the floor, perhaps in a flooded area. Is there any chance it came from an area that had some flooding problems, and is being sold as "new"...i dunno..it sure doesn't represent a new vehicle, in my opinion...good luck

Update Sorry, this is kinda long!

I took the car back to the dealer this morning. I went into the sales manager's office, handed him both keys and told him that I believed that the car had been partially flooded and that the car was unacceptable. I also told him that I would not keep the car and expected a loner until a replacement could be found. He said he would have to talk to the GM and would get back to me. I left the car there and he gave me a loner.

The SM called me about noon and the conversation went something like this: SM "Ahh, We can't just take back the car." Me: "The car was sold as a new car in new condition and that the car is NOT in new condition. I have already discussed the issue with my attorney. You are in breach of contract for selling me a new car that is not in new condition.". SM: What do you want us to do?" ME: "Take the car back and get me a new car!!" SM: "I will call you back."

The SM called back about an hour later and said that they would take the car back but that I needed to pick up my car and drive it until they found a replacement. I told him that I felt that the car was a hazard and did not want to drive the car because of possible electrical damage, etc. He said that the electrical system had been checked out and it was driveable. He then said that he use to sell cars in Chicago and that a lot of the cars were sold like that. I started to tell him he was full of crap, but held my tongue, thanked him for his decision and told him I would pick the car up after work.

I began wondered why they insisted that I drive my car. So when I arrived at the dealership this is how the conversation went: Me: "Before I take my car back, I want you to put what we discussed on the phone in writing." SM (now showing anger), " I can't do that until I heard back from Jaguar NA." ME: (Calmly) "Well you can just keep my car until I received that letter. It's not that I don't trust you but I have had this happen before and the dealership told me one thing and did another." SM: (Still visibly angry) "Fine, we will have the letter for you tomorrow." ME "Ok, I will see you tomorrow."

Nice!!!! Too bad they aren't taking care of you as well as they should be. I"m not sure why they are getting pissed. Sure, it's an inconvenience to them but it's Jaguar NA who will really be hurt if it is really from the factory.

I think they are taking care of you pretty well. You have a loaner for now, and it sounds like they will be getting you a new car. Personally, I wouldn't have a problem driving the car until my new one came in.

I was wondering how you were doing on this. It sounds like you are making some progress.

I did show your pictures to someone from the industry that has experience in the most extreme climates. Basically what he said is that there is absolutely no way that car should look like this so soon under any circumstances. But I think everyone here already concluded that.

No dude, that's the trick and Abdoman was smart and beat it. If he took that car, he would have been screwed. The sales manager would have dicked him around and would have tried everything possible to "lock him in" to the car. By leaving the car there, it's no longer in his hands and it becomes the dealership's problem, not his.

I'm glad your dealership is taking care of you. Obviously, they are going to show some resistance but you put up a good fight. Keep us posted, I really hope (and want to know) that everything works out for you.

Exactly, glad you were heads up enough to refuse the car. Good luck and keep us updated.

Update 2

The sales manager called me Tuesday and began appologizing to me about the way he treated me when I went in. He asked me if I had received the survey form from Jaguar yet. I said no and he said that they wanted to act like this never occurred. They are going to find me another car and asked that I don't fill out the form until they get me a new car.

I am pretty happy about the outcome - supposedly they found an identical car and it's suppose to be in early next week. The saga continues.......................
