BMW doesn't need to worry they don't build SUV's they build SAV's [:D]
If you think about it no "SUVs" out there are really SUVs. The only real SUVs I know of are the Hummer H1 and the old Land Rovers, everything else is worthless on snow or whatever you plan to use it for.

I hate the French. That idiot that said "They take up too much room" should be shot. Almost makes me want to ship the F-150 across the pond and show them what 'taking up too much room is".

I love SUVs. I love trucks. I love sports cars. Let people drive what they want. They aren't doing any harm.

I agree to an extent, however......European streets are not like the streets in the US. The streets over here are very narrow. Very difficult in some areas for two CARS going opposite directions to pass one another, SUV's forget it!!!! The streets in Paris are jacked anyway. Been there a few times...drove once..NEVER AGAIN. There are no lanes persay, where your car fits is where you drive. SUV's on Paris streets, I can only imagine as being to obtrusive and dangerous. SUV's do have there place, but I have to say that the streets of Paris is probly not one of them....SUV's are great for Snow (doesn't snow enough over here to use that excuse), hauling crap around (feesable) and carting MORE than just a driver (which we read that most of the times is not the case). Alot of the SUV drivers over here are inexperienced with driving anything larger than a Golf (look at the size of most of the Renaults and Peugots) and they buy these huge ass expeditions and such and DO cause accidents. I think if you asked some of our other Eurpean based members they would agree....then again....maybe not. JMO

I can see full-size SUVs being an issue, but the smaller ones (escape, jeeps, x3, x5, explorers, blah blah blah...) have similar dimenions to that of a full-sized sedan! I know its cramped over there, but c'mon! I hate the blanket 'SUV' statements. Its such a huge and diverse group you gotta be specific.

I wonder what the most popular car is in Paris.... they must ALL be driving Golfs, Foci, Golf carts, etc...

I don't know who BMW is trying to fool with that "SAV" bullshit, but I know what I see and the X5 is a mid-size SUV to me!! BMW calls it an SAV because its trunk space is pathetic and when it first came out, it was the best-handling SUV out there (the claim to fame was that it acts more like a car...particularly a BMW car because it handles so well).
But now there is the FX45 which handles better and featuers a much more reasonably-sized trunk.

I think they say SAV because it's useless off-road.

Almost as useless as that piece of garbage two posts up..."Hey look man I bought and Escalade for 70,000 and made look even more GAY by putting 26" rims on it that cost 10,000 a piece....want to be my friend?"

I am almost certain that there is a definition difference between "GANGSTER", "GHETTO" and "GAY". and that Escolade is definately the later 2 definitions.

Oh man, if I had a nickel for every time I saw a rimmed-out Escalade on the road, I could buy myself a rimmed-out Esclade, yeah !!!
Seriously though, I'm so utterly sick of seeing these rimmed-out Escalades...that whole scene was over 6 months after the new Escalade first came out.
