The car was definitely a regular manual transmission. A sequential tranny would mean he would be pulling back each time to shift to the next gear, and pushing forward to shift to the previous gear. After each movement the stick would go to the middle resting position. Again ALL race cars have clutches, or else they aren't 'real race cars'... I'm talking die hard race cars, where the only thing that really resembles the OEM model is the shell.

eric, even a sequential tranny has a clutch. you need it for starting. but i know what you mean. a real race car wants to shifted with a clutch at every time, not just a lever.

Last I knew the Williams F1 is a race team that actually races a racecar and they use the SMG style gearbox, which is equipped with a clutch. ([poke] @ Eric) [;)] [joke]

The only true statement would be that any true racecar would not be equipped with an Auto gearbox...

i think that is what he meant. a real and true-of-heart racecar has a standard manual tranny, no ABS, no ESP etc. it´s gotta be just you and your machine.

however, todays real race cars do have all these goodies on board. racing is all about speed and lap time. be better and faster than anyone else. as a sequentil tranny improves speed and lap time...it is just nature that cars get equipped with it. but, here comes the catch, people tend to turn more and more to passengers in their cars. all they have to have is courage to go the speed and steer it. (exagerated, but you get the picture)

a real car is to be driven with the sensors you have in your butt!
