[hah] This dude seems totally fed up with the fact that he can't afford his own Bmw. He could probably afford it, if he ordered it with out turn indicators, head lamps and deduct all its safety features.

That is classic. Really funny. Hate to admit it, but a lot (more than the majority) of BMW drivers here in L.A and surrounds drive like total A-holes. They will not signal. It does drive be mad!!!! Last year when I got my 330cic, and friend of mine asked "Did you get the optional blinker package"?

Yeah we all have hot cars, that are really fast and handle amazingly....but c'mon, use the frickin directional [fake]

Speaking of jealousy, people always assume that I am driving a car that my "mommy and daddy" bought me. It really makes me mad! I look kind of young, but they don't know me! I work 40+ hours a week and and married and own my own home etc. Sometimes I just want to scream that to them. Jealous people suck. [}:)]

Around my area, the BMW drivers are the better drivers. Or basically, the nice car owners are the better drivers...sorta like they have more respect for what they drive.

Same in my area. There aren't enough other Bimmer drivers around for me to actually see one use or not use a turn signal.
The bigger problem group that doesn't use turn signals are the humongo SUVs. It makes you even more nervous to be behind or beside one, because they usually tend to drift back and forth in the lane, so you never know when they're coming over and when they're just driving like a driver of a humongo SUV.
Ratty old Asian and American cars usually don't signal, either.

Same here. Every now and then around my area (north side--city) and my parents area (west suburbs) you see some young punks in their 3ers or a 30-something with an M3 swerving all over the place without blinkers. But in general, I've noticed that many 3, 5, and 7 (the X5 is definetely the soccer mom car around Chicago) drivers are middle-aged to older professionals who drive their cars pretty carefully, if not, downright slowly. It makes sense: most people don't want to pay 40K+ for a car and then run the risk of trashing it by being careless. I find that a lot of people buy BMWs and other similar high performance cars not to drive them fast, but just for the peace of mind of knowing that they can.

One of my biggest pet peeves is during spring when the roads are really crappy in some parts and I slow down a bit over the rough spots (pot holes, construction areas, etc.) and the impatient f*cks with the shitty cars behind me act like its no big deal and want to continue going 80 as usual because they don't care what kind of damage they do to their (crappy) cars.

As for blinkers. I always like the look of the bright side blinkers when I see German cars (VWs, M-Bs, Audi's, BMWs) doing the lane changes at night. I think it makes for a pretty cool effect--something a lot of other cars can't replicate.

Although I love my 7 series I do agree that most bimmer drivers I have encountered are bad drivers or just bad drivers due to the cell phone is glued to the ear..

Around here it's the junky cars that usually don't signal. The nicer cars tend to drive more responsibly.

When I was in college I thought all BMW drivers were assholes, probably because I went to school where there was a large group of spoiled rich Southern kids who drive their bimmers around like idiots thinking they were special (obviously, presents from daddy). Now that I'm more mature and on our third BMW (presents from myself, not daddy) my feelings about BMW owners have changed (but then, maybe other people think I'm an asshole). I've noticed that BMW drivers, around here at least, are more responsible and drive with control, although maybe a little fast....

Here in the Seattle area NO ONE signals and it is one of my pet peeves! I don't think we can say BMW owners don't signal any more than we can say Sable owners don't signal...everyone should signal!

Hey hey now, I do... :) I hate it too....

Well you know it is optional equipment on cars. "I'll take mine WITH the optional turn signal indicators please"...

I agree with MrE. In fact I can't even remember a BMW passing me in the recent past [:)] Most people in th NYC area buy BMW for status not performance. Most are ignorant of that fact. Except for the one time a gold chain guido in a e46 M3 did a 360 and lit up the tires around the intersection.

I'll be honest, I rarely signal unless I'm turning off of a street into a parking lot or another street. When I'm on the interstate I get pretty rowdy. I think it's because I don't get to drive my car as much since I live right next to campus and can walk everywhere, so when I do drive my car, I DRIVE it. Some days, though, I'll take her out down River Road (the road that runs along the levee down the Mississippi) and let her run, and run hard. I'm also bad about it on the interstate around here. I think it could all be solved by me driving more, but my friends can use cheap gas in their cars, so I usually end up riding instead of driving.

But hey, BMWs are meant to be driven, so why not drive them, you know? I do my best to not endanger anyone else when I get going good. It's usually when I'm by myself in my car and the roads are pretty clear. I've had friends try and get me to drive pretty crazy while they're in the car with me, but I just won't do it. If I die, then I die, but I'm not gonna take someone else with me.

Sorry, I think I got off subject a little.

I do get pissed when people do not use their blinkers. It just an accident waiting to happened. Whats worse is someone on a cell phone making turns as if they are the only one on the road.

What does poking fun at the fact that some bimmer drivers don't signal have anything to do with being jealous about not owning one?

I do disagree with the point about driving a bimmer makes u a bad driver - driving skills/habits are determined by the driver and not the type of car he drives.

But I also disagree with the posts about how "oh this guy is trashing people who drive bimmers so he must be jealous, he must be poor and that's why he can't afford a bimmer". To those people who have this point of view, get over yourselves. Bimmer are good cars but there are cars that are better. Driving a bimmer does not make you any better than anyone else, especially if you drive an 8-year old 3-series.

This all boils down to the fact that there are many people who would like a bimmer. bmw as a great reputation as a status car so you criticize the one on top. I like being on top. If there wasn't any buz about our cars it wouldn't be as much fun to own it.
