i think the IS300 is a hot little car, too bads its slow as hell. now this IS430, that would be pretty slick. but then again, lexus suspension..... ewwww.
well keep in mind that this car is supposedly going to be lexus' answer to the M3, in which case this is a huge miss...cuz the E 46 M3 in my book is just almost impossible to beat. I saw that car at the autoshow also (which is where those pictures are from) and what you see there is sitll considered a concept car only. So ofcourse that paint job is all just for show...a really...really ugly show. I sitll wanna wait and see wat a produciton model will look like.
definatly a hit, and it looks much better without the red lights on either side of the licence plate. i dont like the paintjob much, but other that that its awesome

Dude, you gotta ride the IS first before you judge the suspension. Yeah Lexus usually has a floaty suspension, but the Japanese know how to copy something VERY well. The IS doesn't have that typical floaty suspension. It's a real firm and proper sporty suspension.
That concept IS430 was at the 2004 LA Auto Show. It's been spruced up with aftermarket goodies, such as the front grill mesh, Brembo rotors/calipers, body kit, wheels, carbon fiber valve cover (hood was opened when I was there), and the paint job. Most likely these items won't be carried onto the production model.
I find it funny that whenever BM creates something spectacular (M5), everyone always tries to imitate.
I think the IS430 is more a copy of the Audi S4 and the possible future M3/M4. If Lexus wanted to copy the M5, they woulda used a bigger body style like the GS.

I wasn't suggesting that they were copying the M5's chassis, but rather its sporty V8. Lexus' V8 is nothing compared to the M5's, of course. Yeah- I would say that this car is more similar to the new Audi S4 since it too packs a V8 in a small sedan (I liked the older S4 w/ the V6 twin turbo). The IS300 was orginally intended to compete with the 3 series, so I was trying to stay in that line of thought.
Overall- I've never really like the IS300. I've always felt like it was a shadow of the 3 series and I feel the same about this car also- only this shadow packs a mean punch
i have an IS300 and the suspension is definitely not floaty. i think that the IS430 is a sweet car, the paint job is a little wack but the car is definitely hot. I just got a '04 330Ci convertible with sport package and i was suprised how sluggish it is. I have always heard 330's will beat my car's ass but my car with intake and exhaust has a quicker feel than my 330. the IS holds its own against the 330 with minor mods if any. What mods if any can i get to make my 330 faster?
