6:00 pm - I leave home after spending 3 hours cleaning and waxing my car.

8 pm - out of nowhere we get a thunderstorm, which was not in the damn forecast to begin with, so I think well there goes my hard work...

8:30pm - I'm stopped at a light and for a moment I heard something resembling the sound of a rock hitting my car...So I wonder hmmm?

8:35 pm - The light rain turns into dime sized hail and I get pounded!

I just got home and I'm trying to not even think about it...my roommates are saying that they were too small to cause any dings/damage, but I was driving and they were hitting my car hard...

WHY DO ALL THESE F**** THINGS HAPPEN TO ME!!!!
I love my car so much and now this happens to it, F****! I have never let ANYTHING happen to it, I even park in the farthest parking spots to avoid door dings...

I'm so pissed right now and sad...tomorrow I'm gonna check the damage, hopefully there will be none, but if there is I'm gonna puke...

Should I call my insurance first thing if there is damage? What do they do to repair hail damage...I don't want some stupid paintless dent removal that still leaves blemishes, I want the whole car back to new...

/frustrated and pissed

I understand your stress, if you know somebody that owns a body shop take it there get a quote and then call your insurance agent. That way you know - you will have to pay your deductible though. Are there a lot of dents, thats why I am so reluctant to take my cars out in the spring because of the weather - had a brand new '95 M3 (I was test driving actually) when I was driving down the freeway it started to poor and then it hailed good thing the salesman was with me!

That sucks, but hopefully it didn't cause any damage. I have seen dime size hail before, it didn't do any damage to my cars....

Sorry to hear, but that is the only major thing I dislike about Austin.

If you need a good place for hail repair, try TheDingCompany off of Ben White/I35. They do excellent work.

Tell him Tom with the M3 and FX45 sent you and he'll cut you a great deal. [;)]

Dude, come on man, I thought you had a really bad accident or something. It's good you waxed your car right before the storm because then you KNOW that you had a fresh coat of wax there to protect your whip. I'm sure there is no damage at all.... your paint can take quite a beating. Good luck and let us know what happens.

mr elussive puts it right. sure, it´s really s**t that you had this misfortune, but this should not make you curse over your own life. a car is never worth it.

so, what about the bimmer?

Sorry man, but this wasn't about you. We like to do something on this board that is called SUPPORT each other. There would have been a way to relate your accident to this situation without coming across so abrasive. I am sorry to hear about your accident I personally know the pain of being involved in an accident as does almost everyone else on this board. Ask anyone on this board about the accident I had with my 50k dollar 2004 530i and the THOUSANDS of euros spent on its repairs, granted I had insurance but that is not the point.

Sorry to the Mods if I am out of line.[:I]

Well...thanks for the word everyone.

I checked my car the best I could at night and I didn't seem to find anything. ( the car is really that strong against falling hail?!?!)

I will check again in the day, hopefully will be nothing *CROSSES FINGERS*...

And yea it wasn't an accident or anything but for someone as meticulous as me, this is basically as bad as a wreck, so i'm over tense!

At first sign of hail, jump on top of car and make yourself as flat as possible and do the "making snow angel" motion VERY fast!!!

OR

Carry a king-sized synthetic filled comforter in your trunk...throw it over the car next time??

Seriously...sorry to hear that but good luck with the repairs.

[clap] Good one Montana!

I just checked my car first thing this morning and lo and behold , I only find one small ding on the hood! I am so relieved that nothing serious happened...OH YEAH!

I love BMW for making their cars so strong!

Thanks again everyone for supporting me through this difficult time [:)] , or maybe just blown out of proportion by me [|)] .

I'll take heed of Tom's advice and take my car to the TheDingCompany, even one small ding bothers me :p...Now I just have to find where Ben white/I-35 is, hehe!

P.S. - I've also learned through this that there are more important things in life than a car, like the MCAT! (10 days left, wish me luck guys [:(] )

Good luck on the MCAT. I'm sure you'll find it a more relaxing experience that driving in a hail storm. I'd suggest putting a good bottle of wine aside for the night after. You'll need it.

When you go to med school, I'd suggest getting a car you care less about--some of the hospitals you'll be stuck in are not in the kind of neighborhoods you'd want you bimmer left alone in. Students (residents too) do not get preferred parking. If a small ding worries you so much, think about smashed windows, keying, slashed tires...

that storm came right by Longview too, no hail, but some of the heaviest rain and lighting that i've ever seen. it was a spectacular show though.

my car got wrecked this morning, luckily i was the one driving and am not paying for it.

I always look out for hail. My M3 has an aluminum hood, which can make you nervous at times. Good to hear everything is all right.

Tool Fan I don't think you we’re out-of-line. We do try and have support for our fellow BMWBOARD members. That's what this place is all about....

BUMMER DUDE, SORRY ABOUT THE WRECK! (definitely worse than any hail storm)

The lease should be up my first semester in med school IF I get in :)

I'll definitely have to decide, based on where I go, what car I should consider.

I definitely would die of a heartattack if anything worse happened to my car , knock on wood!

Thanks for wishing me good luck, you guys are so nice, love this board! (P.S. - I don't drink and am not 21 yet so wine would be out of the question :), but I do plan on sleeping for the next year or so!)
