True story:
Traveling on I90 in SD, construction ahead. Car in front of me completely stops instead of slowly merging. Of course I stop...BAMMMM!! I get rear-ended. So, car is in the shop for about a month. The very next day I get it back, about 0600hrs, Im going to work. Its late November and happily going on I190. At a distance I see a deer crossing the highway, I look at it and mumble. Right as I turn back to look ahead, BAMM!!,BAMM!!.... TWO!!!, not one, two baby deer (bambi) at the same time and on each front side.
Thats not the end of it. As you may now guess Im pissed. I dont bother to stop, I just go. As Im heading in to work, Im hearing this grinding sound coming from underneath me. Im thinking,"great, my exhaust". So I come up to the entry gate and the person, with a K-9, waves me through (Air Force) without any concern. When I get out of the car to assess the damage, OUCH!! all over with some fur. Some time midday, someone comes up to me and asks, "hey, whats hanging underneath your car". Concerned, I go to inspect, and low and behold, the is half a deer hanging. Literally, it was if it was bisected with a precision blade right through the center.
To this day I still dont know how it was stuck, but it was. I had dragged that thing for 13 miles, and the grinding I was hearing on the way was bambi. To top it off, when I went home from work, you could clearly see a blood trail on the other side of the highway (mine) leading all the way to the murder scene.
What about the K-9 at the gate....how did I get through?

Maybe I am being too compassionate, but it seems like nobody has asked if the deer was hurt!! Sorry for your "car" being damaged, but a living, breathing animal was struck.

Did it need medical attention, or to be killed if it was in horrible pain? Did you pull over and even check, call the highway patrol (state trooper you call it right?)

Yeah....cars can be fixed, but can the deer????
you cant be serious [confused]

yeah I could have taken the deer home and eaten it here in MN too.. There are so many deer around here its sick. I almost hit another today, well not really but I stopped for it and it took like 40 seconds to cross a 2 lane road, so I punched gass at it and it ran away.

anyways, this is the most expensive deer I have seen

If I remember correctly, it was around 3100. It was a 98 Hoonda CR-V. Here is the icing on the cake. When I first got here I got rear-ended twice and it was STOLEN!! Thats what I get for owning a Honda. Very good vehicle but really bad karhma.
Honestly all this is true.

equate- I feel your pain man, I finished fixing my deer damage a few months ago, and it was A LOT worse than that. the damn thing hit the hood, (which i bent back and put some bondo on) bumper trim, headlight assembly, left grille, fender (completely mangled the thing) and the door. cost me about $800 including painting (half the hood, the fender and the door) parts, labor and bondo. it wasnt covered by the insurance, and it would have been alot more if i hadnt done it all myself (besides the paint). ill see if i can find some before and after pics somewhere.
