better that it ran into the side of your car, rather than getting in front of you and ending up in your window, or worse in the seat with you.

Sorry for the bad luck, at least you weren't hurt, cars can be fixed!

Maybe I am being too compassionate, but it seems like nobody has asked if the deer was hurt!! Sorry for your "car" being damaged, but a living, breathing animal was struck.

Did it need medical attention, or to be killed if it was in horrible pain? Did you pull over and even check, call the highway patrol (state trooper you call it right?)

Yeah....cars can be fixed, but can the deer????

At the risk of coming across extremely shallow and cold-hearted, I will say that there is a vast overpopulation of deer, but a nice E30 M3 is a rare thing nowadays.

[bmwdance]

From the looks of the damage, I'd bet that deer was probably stunned and then ran off.

I almost hit a deer several months ago. I was driving on the interstate early in the morning, and it was really foggy. Came around a wide sweeping bend, and there was a deer in the middle of the road just stupidly staring at oncoming traffic like they do. There was a truck a little bit in front of me, and he swerved to miss the fool thing. That startled the deer, which then fell. The deer then got confused and started scrambling frantically to get back up on its feet. I couldn't tell which way it was going to go, and there were a few cars right behind me, so I couldn't slam on the brakes. So, I just moved as far over to the left as I could and hoped it wouldn't decide to go that way too. Luckily it got up and took off the other way.

I'm sorry to see the damage, dude. What's the story on being able to get a new fender for that car? Big $$$! Please tell me you have comprehensive insurance that will cover this!

Nope...not a "vegiterian" or a vegetarian. I eat Wurst almost every day, love chicken and beef sometimes too.

Don't have to be a lettuce eater to think about or care if I killed an animal with my car...whether or not the animal is overpopulated, stupid etc...

C'mon guys...are you guys really so coldhearted and dicky, that all you can think about is your car? I love our 3er, Z8 and soon to come X5.....but that doesn't mean I can't check to see if an animal needs help, to be put down, etc.. after I strike it.

And yea....bambi jerky is yummy, and extra good with some bbq sauce on a roasted chunk of meat [wave]

yup, hitting a deer is covered.

equate: your accident wasn't as bad as mine, try going 80, hitting a deer running through the highway w/ the passenger side bumper. it then spins around and slams into the door and flies off. in the mean time, i pull a 180, and come to a rolling stop and the engine stalls. then you see cars buzzing by you at 70+mph.. sure woke me up at 4 in the morning.. had 4+ grand in damages and the car was in the shop for a month.. hope you get your car back quick from the shop.

deutsche100, don't mind me if i don't find your humor, humorous [:p] if i was in the right state of mind, i would've gotten out of my car, hiked down the highway and beaten the crap out of the deer/doe (or so i felt while making the report few miles down the road at the state police station.) in retrospect, more than anything, i hope the deer either walked away with only a limp, or had a quick death..

Damn Jae, that is rough. Are deer a problem around the Mo?? I know they around Chicago?

You guys should think about getting deer whistles. I have two on my car, on the lower front bumper. Too be honest, I'm not sure if they really work (people can't hear them). But I must say, I had them on my car for the last five years and my parents live in area (near forest preserves) where there are a lot of deer; I haven't had a run in with a deer yet. And the few times I came close to one as I drove up to it, it scattered away. Other times, they just stand on the side of the road and watch me drive by?? [paranoid] Maybe it's just luck, but I'll keep the whistles on anyway..... [:)]
