At least you guys have, or have driven a BMW, me on the other hand day dream about owning a 330ci ZHP, or a M3 or a e39 540i or M5. I often space out at school thing about owning and driving one of these beautifully masterpieced cars. On a daily basis, there isn't a day when I dont think about them. Everytime I see one of these, I stop and enjoy their beauty. I have 9 posters on my wall of BMW, which I look at from time to time and think to my self.. How does it feel to own one? On last years auto show I sat in an M3 for 15 minutes, just admiring it. When I ride my BMW Q.3S bike I wonder to my self, how would it feel to drive a car this build quality..

Quite Frankly Im obsessed, if a person handed me keys to a bmw and said keep it. I would drive it for 24 hours straight before id run out of excitement just for one day.

I'd like to have one and it is actually not a too far off dream. My goal is to get one in three years to replace my 325 CiC.

I was pulling up to a stop light a week or so ago and I saw a black vert in the next lane up ahead of me with its top down. I was still several car lengths behind when I noticed the ///M3 on the back. When I got up beside him, I felt like I was in a cheap pinto. I knew then that I would have one one day. It will be a Euro delivery, too. [headbang]

I'd take an M3, although, if it is ever offered, I'd probably go with a Z4 based M Roadster.

An M3 can get you in trouble! Here's a quick M3 story - My wife was leaving the hospital the other day and got passed (stormed, actually!) by a new M3. She recognized the driver, another doctor at the hospital. The next day she asked him about his M3 and his wife was there also. His wife laughed and said that a little while ago he got THREE SPEEDING TICKETS IN ONE DAY - ALL OVER 100 mph!!!!!! He's from Germany and just can't help it!
What the hell.. My mom told me if i went over 80 mph on any road and got pulled over, its a felony! Is she just trying to scare me? Or did this guy get a felony!? Damn

Oh i dont get why your so gahhh gahh over a silly practical M3 [wiggle] [wiggle]

Its only like 60k. Thats reasonable :/

But id be more gahh gahh over a Porsche, Ferrari, Bentley over a 100k [pray] [pray]

Hehe... Does the M3 only come in stick? [confused] [confused] , can't drive stick [:(]

Stick or SMG if u cant use a clutch go with the SMG, (SMG is clutchless and u use paddles to switch the gears) but i heard its kind of crappy. Just get a car with a stick and learn it.

I'm actually waiting for the Z4 M... now there's a fun car to drive.
Have they announced a Z4 M car ? I thought I read the 3.0 was the largest they were going to do in the Z4 ?

A Z4 M would be cool !!!! Its the single BMW by Bangle I actually like.

I'm dreaming about a 2001 M3. I'm waiting for the price to come down on those 2001 M3's, figure in a couple of years or so, then I'd pick one up. But for now I'll keep playing with my 92 bmw.

I really like the Bmw coupe's, they stand out from the rest of the pack, they have their own style and look. I get compliments on my ride and its a 92. [cheers]

SMG is fun, and once you get the hang of it a blast to use! I've driven one new 2004 with SMG (330i ZHP package) and one older 328 steptronic with a SMG modification package done to it. Both were pretty smooth (The real SMG was much better at shifting mind you). It's a very fast shift, as fast as my manual shifts if not more, for sure. Don't get me wrong I like to row my boat like most diehard Manual drivers, but the next bimmer I buy will probably be a SMG. (Especially if it were a M2/3/4!)

I just don't see Manual w/ a clutch being around for much longer in new cars.. Sorta like manual shifting on old cars on the steering column(Ahh memories of the family's old Ford Falcon come to mind..). Just doesn't make sense once new technology comes out that's better. (imho)

Nothing's been announced. A few spy photos last fall, lots of wishful thinking on my part! The rumors say that Z4s are not selling well enough to warrant the investment in an M version, and that they don't want to have a Z4 that outperforms the M3.

Here is the last I have seen Z4 M Roadster

Also note a rumor about a Z4 COUPE below:

From Consumer Guide's Z4 info page:
"The rumor mill has been blowing hot and cold about a Z4-based coupe and a new hot-rod M Roadster. Spy photographers have seen advanced prototypes of both, but BMW has apparently been debating any additions in light of the euro's continuing surge against the dollar. If the final answer is yes, we'd expect see 2.5i and 3.0i coupes during 2005, likely as '06 models. M Roadster timing is less clear, but we wouldn't rule out an introduction as early as this winter. One source says the M Roadster would share a 333-hp 3.2-liter six with the four-seat M3 coupe and convertible and feature expected upgrades to the normal Z4's chassis, body, wheels/tires, and interior. It will be interesting to see what transpires."

But why not? If the 2005 M3/4 get 400hp V8 as rumored, put the inline 6 ///M in the Z4. With the weight difference, I'm guessing they will be roughly equal in 0-60 performance.

Would a Z4 based M roadster cannibalize M3/4 sales? Certainly they are similar, but I think they are still different markets.

Yeah, I don't think that the M Roadster (Z3 base, modified by M) even sold that much, either. It first came out with the 240hp I6 motor, then later on it got the E46 M3's motor, pushing out 315hp....I rarely see M Roadster and M Coupe on the road.

Oh belive me I would love one too :) but it will have to wait 5 years... I'll be 30 then and it will be the M4 (or M3 if they decide to stick with it) by the time I'm 30 I better be able to afford one brand new :D

course if I got a family by then(omg) then maybe an E-Class hehe

Hey,

So I know we're all probably very happy with our own cars and we're all having a great time driving. But am I alone when I say that I desparately want an M3? I mean, I absolutely love my car and I enjoy every minute of it, and I look forward to the remaining 2 years I have with it. But it seems like every single day where the M3 randomly comes up in my mind and I just day-dream for a while of how absolutely killer it would be to have that beast. I can't even imagine the pure driving pleasure that the E46 M3 delivers and it kills me that I have pretty much missed out on any chance I ever had on getting one. Anybody else feel this way? I can't possibly be the only one on this board who almost feels like he/she NEEDS an M3, lol.
One time, when the E46 M3's were FIRST coming out (I knew everything about this car way before they came out) and they had almost a 1-year wait at dealerships, my dealership had a silver 2001 M3 Coupe with some regular options sitting in the showroom. The one salesman that I always talk to at my local dealership said that BMW gave it to the dealership as like a "gift" because BMW knows the dealerships were able to sell an M3 for MSRP or higher in less than a week. So I went home and I begged the shit outta my dad for it until he finally actually said "OKAY!....but let's talk to your mom first." So we talked to my mom and she obviously ruined everything, but yeah that's the closest I ever came to getting one.
Anyways, just needed to vent since I've been thinking like this for SO damn long. I just can't wait until I'm older and I'm making my own $$ and I will be able to get myself a beautiful M car and I'll just be the happiest guy in the world.

Thanks,
MrElussive

We felt the same way about the M3 after I bought the E46 330CI.

Well, go over to the M3 forum and check it out. We BOUGHT an M3 and picked it up today. [cheers]

Anybody who drives a 330 and thinks its "close" to an M3 needs to drive an M3. It ain't the same animal, enough so that we BOTH loved it enough to buy it. [^]
