[:(] i'm 3000 miles away from home right now..have been for a number of weeks. with every post i realize how much i miss lacy. no, i don't have a girlfriend(are you kidding? its a gift giving holiday soon), lacy is my car. i miss her so much and as i'm reading all of these posts i'm realizing that i'd better get to work before things like timing belts break =) all my friends as me "do you miss us?" I say "if by 'us' you mean my car and my computer, yes very much so." i even went to the local bmw dealership just to look at a real man's car. although i saw my first real life enzo while here. and TWO z8s...never seen either in washington[mad] . stupid rain scares pretty cars away. *sigh* oh well, i suppose i'll be in better spirits once i get home. thanks one and all for fueling my passion for these amazing machines.[driving] [burnout]

never seen either in washington
Are you kidding? Seattle BMW has sold two Alpina Z8's that I know of. You need to go to Kirkland for a day. If you drive a BMW there you are just common folk. If you want to stand out in Kirkland drive a Ford. Serious I have seen many exotics here in the Seattle area, but admit when I was at the Daytona 500 I saw more exotics there than anywhere.[wave]

ok, i'm going to attempt to answer everyone's questions/comments, here goes:

Bimmerlife-thanks for the compliment regarding my car pix

Tom/Bimmerlife-i'm in florida studying real estate, whereupon i intend to return to seattle and practice officially (which is where i plan on getting my money to afford that E34 M5 i was asking about)

MyHarley-(in regards to bimmerlife's comment)it's just GOING shopping that kills real men, not the fact that it costs money. malls suck.

Big Daddy-i actually lived in kirkland for about 7 years and i suppose it is a nice place, but i never noticed a high density of high-end cars. and we did have a ford at the time =) '93 tan station wagon *shudder* blew a head gasket after a whole 6 years =) gave it away and took a tax write-off. incidentally, we saw it being towed about 3 months later[rofl]. besides, if bmw only sold two z8, what's the likelihood of me seeing one.

"if bmw only sold two z8, what's the likelihood of me seeing one." No no, I said Seattle BMW has sold two Alpina Z8's that I know of. Then you have Bellvue BMW, Fife BMW and more in the area. Heck I have only lived in the Seattle area for 8 months and I have seen one on the road and several other high dollar sports cars. I'll watch for one for you...teehee.

well then..

i suppose i envy you, my friend =) as i have not seen any cars that nice. i have seen a few E39 M5s, a handful of Z3s and a smaller handful of Z4s. i used to spend 8-10 hours on the road too. i guess rich people just don't commute ;)[driving]

Ah I see, hopefully with all that new money you will be bringing in, you can treat yourself to another BMW and this sacrifice would be worth it.[:D]

well, that's the idea. unfortunately, i've crunched the numbers over and over. my goal is to buy a house with a friend by the end of 2004/ beggining of 2005. so that requires that i have 30k set aside. i need to gross about 75k if i want to buy that E39 540i, or about 60k if i want that E34 M5 (which i really really want). i'm told i have to "re-crunch" the numbers so that i can find out just how much i need to gross in order to cover repairs on that M5. i was told 100 per month!. i estimated under 500 per year for my current 325i. =)

ya, i like the 330i also. my friend just bought a 2003 330xi. *sigh* he didn't even know what modding was[bigcry] . it's a nice ride. but he got gray interior...silver car. i would have gone for black myself, but i don't have the 40k or however much to make decisions like that...as far as the 7 series go, up til yesterday i thought they were all auto tranny[8] [8] [8]

Yes it is a Auto transmission but in the last months I had cramps in my legs and feet. And Im kid of scared to drive manual. Its really painful.

But I like the 7 series. That car just looks like a M1 battle tank on the road.

330i is probably my favorite, not the performance package but regular 330i with sport package. I hate the suede leather they used in the interior of the performance package.

None of the new 7-series (745 and 760) have a manual transmission. Both models have a 6-speed automatic transmission. Mercedes offers manual transmissions only on C-Class (excluding the C32 AMG) and SLK-Class (excluding the SLK32 AMG) models. The rest are all 5-speed autos or 7-speed autos.
You can now get full leather interior on the 330i Performance Package (rather than the Alcanta/Leather combo). My favorite BMW is probably the E39 M5....they are just too hot for the road. The Z8 is nice, but I feel like they are overpriced for what you get (and I feel like the Alpina V8 Roadster gives you even less)...for the $130K-$140K, I would rather purchase a 911 Turbo Cabriolet or a SL55 AMG.

Yes the last 7 series E38 was available with manual transmission as a 735i. But only in Europe and eastern countrys.

Mercedes does offer E class with manual transmission as a option up to E 320. Again only in Europe. And there are few S 320's manual too.

alright, thanks. i didn't know that. i always stayed clear of the 7 series just because they were automatic. it's too bad...i'd like a 745/750 if it had that third pedal. thanks for the info[thumb]
