Holden’s answer to the BMW 3
Just today, Holden has unveiled another legendary nameplate. The new TORANA is a small/medium sized car that sits on the Kappa platform. However unlike other GM Kappa’s (all have 4cyl), the Torana would sport holdens new “alloytech” 3.6L V6. In addition, the torana would also have twin turbo, lifting its power output to 380+kw or nearly 400hp. Here’s the pics.

Hopefully in the future Holden would incorporate the LS2 and AWD in the Torana.

According to Bob Luts this car has the potential to challenge BMWs 3 series cars.

Is it just me or does everyone else see some strong similarities between this and the TL?

Either way, that's one sweet looking car.

The TL stole Holden designs.......The back of the torana looks like other holdens.
Hmmm I didn't know that. Either way I'm jealous with a few of your selections down there, especially the Ford Falcon XR8.

Just curious as to what cars you gentlemen fancy down under that's unique to North America?

We get pretty much the best of whatever is going on up your way, except for the B.U.F.F. trucks. The thing I really 'fancy' about North American cars are the prices of new Bimmers/Audis!!!

(oh and btw by BUFF I mean 'big ugly fat f***')

In my opinion, I don't understand why these cars are even referred to as BMW killers.

The current 3 line is becoming outdated quickly and competitors are coming out with increasingly better cars. It's almost shameful that they are trying to "kill" a 3 series that has been around for so long and hasn't had a remodel yet. So ofcourse these newer cars are gonna be better and faster than the 3 line.

Wait till the next generation 3 series cars come and then we will see who is killing who in terms of automobiles. :)

The pictures still look a little "concepty," but that is definitely one sweet looking car. You Aussies do have some sweet cars down there. I really think GM ought to import the Holden lineup to the US. And as Holdens, not rebadged domestic brands. Alot of enthusiasts here would really appreciate what Holden has to offer.

Yup my bad, thinking about the m5.

Because BMWs have always been the benchmark many car makers aim for. Good on holden for aiming high, there a tiny company with tiny budgets. But they always seem to deliver the goods.

yeah you should check out the Falcon XR6 Turbo [headbang]. Ohhh what a sweet car. Or, if oldies float your boat, check out the Falcon GTHO Phase III. Best muscle car of 'em all!
