All of your comments and private messages mean so much. I've been a member here since I was a sophomore in highschool, so I feel like I know some of you personally.

Oh no Eric. I am so so sorry you and your family has to go through this. This is truly sad. I feel so bad for you. It brought a tear to my eye as well. My prayers are for your family especially you and your sister. What a shock! It's hard to think that you can go in for something, come home and look/act somewhat normal, and the next thing you know you're being told there is nothing anyone can do. Nobody should go through this. Time will heal this is true, but it's the in-between that is going to be hard. I really feel for you.

I was out camping for 3 days and just read your thread. I hope I am not stirring the pot of emotions for you. I am truly sorry and wish your family the best.....

P.S. Comfort your sister as much as you can. She will really need you now as you will need her.....

Sorry to hear that man, please accept my condolences. It's very sad that your mom was in good health and it happend to her, that's the thing about modern medicine - they fix one thing but screw something else while doing it.

Sorry, Eric, to detract from this thread, but I need to respond to this.

Eric doesn't need people trying to point blame or make such uninformed accusations. I want to set the record straight based on the facts Eric has told us, and hopefully educate people in the process.

She died from what was more than likely a PE - Pulmonary Embolism, or blood clot in the lung. Among many other things, a PE can be caused by a fracture. Unfortunately, it is somewhat likely that the fracture caused this, not "modern medicine - they fix one thing but screw something else while doing it."

I don't blame anybody, it's just an impression I got from reading the original post.

That's what it was, and unfortunately modern medicine can't do much if anything about it, especially if the clot is moving already, there would be no way of knowing where it is, and where it's going.
