Yeah, I am just biased because my friend has a 2001 model Miata whereas I haven't even been within 10 feet of an MR2 Spyder. My main problem with these two cars is their lack of an aggressive appearance (which makes particularly the Miata, a somewhat girly car) and the lack of a real engine, although the new Mazdaspeed Miata has pretty much resolved those issues.
Completely agree...I wouldnt own a Miata myself simply because they are THEEEEE girly car of the universe, coupled with a VW convertible. I dont feel the S2000 is quite as much a Feminine car, somehow it takes on a more masculine edge & has the power to add.

my dad has an s2000 what a car personally i dont like it but it is much better than the mr2 and it looks and feels like an exotic. especially with the engine start button. and the price on a s2000 is always soft. my dad got the price he wanted on a 04 s2000 in decmber.

bmwboy, I've sat in my friend's Miata but I have never been behind the wheel to give it a test-drive. As soon as the timing is right, I'll jack his keys and take it for a spin. [burnout]

mrelussive it may not seem like a cool car but it is a lot like an english sprts car except it works all the time. it is a very fun to drive not fast but not slow car that handles like it is on rails(if you get the sprts package) plus it feels like a roadster and with an exhasut and som e simple mods drives lik one too. its too bad i no longer have my miata other wise i would let you experiecne the joy of it. please tell me what you think of your freinds maita when you drive it. also what year is it. and i can only assume it is stick and if it isnt it will not be wurth driving. by the way do you enjoy the g35 coupoe cause someday i would love to driv one cause they are very beutiful. and i am sure fun.

bmwboy, my friend's Miata is a 2001 model in stick shift (I don't think I would bother driving it if it wasn't), it has 142hp I believe. When I drive it, I will not hold its "lack of power" against it as I will be looking at the overall driving experience. I don't know if it's the Sport package or not, is that even an option for the Miata? If it is, my friend probably took it as he was not in it just for the convertible aspect of it (his father owns a Miata as well, and is a big fan of the vehicle).
As for the G35 Coupe, I am having an excellent time with it. Since you are fairly new to the board, you should know that I am a BMW fan, through and through. I originally came to this board wanting an X5 3.0i, then changed to the 330xi, then to the 330Ci. But then the G35 Coupe came out and I loved what it offered (280hp V6, Brembo brakes, great handling) and the styling also got to me. The acceleration of the car is fantastic, the luxury is great, and the handling and braking are great (although I think the 330Ci can ultimately handle the turns faster). It is very much like the Japanese version of the 330Ci, but being Japanese it comes with some bland-ness to the driving experience (handling is not very predictable, the vehicle is extremely tail-happy without warning). It really is a great car, very well-made and feels rock solid just like a 3-series. I don't regret getting the car, but next time I will NOT get the Japanese alternative.

for the miata there is a handiling pakage which contains an upgrade to 16inch wheels bilsiten shocks and sturs and some other goodies. as for the infinity i love what infiftny has to offer but since i was in the market for a much chaeper alternative all i could basicly afford was a uysed bmw. and dont get me worng the bmw is a great car and i love it but it costs so much money to buy aftermarket parts for. but hey i much rather pay top dollar for somthing that is worth while. and i agree with oyu the infinity coupe is gorgues and i would love to own a red one one day.

I love the early MR2's. Turbo'd and ready for corners. I had a great MR2. TRD makes wonderful products. Rememebr its not the car that makes the man. S2000 and Spyder! If we all think about what they were truely meant for then they can not be compared. Personally, I think either one are over priced. But some people dont like Honda. Others dont like toyota, the rest of us buy BMWs!

Does anyone know the real pavement stats of either vehicle, and how about wieght and size? ? What exactly are we trying to do accomplish out of this comparison...Its all personal preference. :)

the s2000 is not cmparable to an mr2 becuse it is a doffernt car and was built for one real specific use only. that is track days. it iloves it and the v tech is set up for it. the s2000 is a 2 liter inline 4 with 240 horsepower and 162 lb/ft of torque. the mr2 is a 1.8 liter inline 4 wiht i think like 150 horspeower and like 150 somthing lb/ft of torque. the s2000 also has things like a trunk and more cabin space a 6spd manuel gear box only and the mr2 has a 5spd and porb 4spd auto. they are very dffernt cars.
