Hahahahahhaa, hey at least you admit it!!
I seriously wish we had some highways in the US where you could just flat out whip it, just like the autobahn. I know we have one highway or that doesn't have a speed limit, but isn't that in the desert or something?
Try Montana and the Dakotas ,there are stretches where there really are no speed limits. And no people either for miles. /edit: (See above, I guess they do now?)
Or parts of Nevada.. Watch out for gekkos.
Speaking of hanging with nice cars (usually beyond our reach), I had my first 'thrill' ride in my car since I've owned it yesterday..
I'm on this twisty windy road heading to work in the AM, (If you're in Atlanta, this was Old Roswell Rd, going from Roswell, over towards Delk Rd, Powers Ferry.) Old Roswell winds along next to the 'hooch (Chatahoochee river) and also has some nice corners on slopes to really test your car.
Well, I'm behind this Boxster, who is behind a *slow* truck.. The truck turns off finally near the river right at the beginning of a somewhat banked, twisty climb. The Boxster sticks it in the corner and I hear him chirp, I'm on it right behind him. We whip up to about 60mph around a tight 70 degree turn, on a inclined hill (thank god I just had my suspension drop done!), I'm like glue on his bumper. I bump to 3rd, (I think he buried his needle in 2nd gear, he was just 'floating' for a sec as we topped the hill and I shifted), I start *gaining* on him slowly (Was only 1 carlength distance the whole climb).. He punches it noticing I'm almost in his back seat but I'm not dropping back an inch.. We rode up to about 90 before we slowed down (started to approach a lot of entrances to subdivisions, with folks pulling out everywhere..). I'm mildly modded, the greatest thing (and saving grace on this pull) was my suspension, I have no doubt on a straightaway he would have walked me pretty easily.
Guy turns off about 3 miles down the road, gave me a wave out the window, I returned the favor.
I had a glow at least till lunchtime. Talk about a rush! I think I missed my calling at the track..
