Bought a red 1989 535i. Just trying to copy bahnstormer [:p]
5 speed, few LITTLE problems, 124k miles. Engine is SUPER smooth and in very good condition.

I'll post pics once I wash it and find my camera.

Congrats! Back in the saddle again! By the way, that 318 posing as a 325 in the Reading newspaper is STILL being advertised. Nobody wants it...

Those are sweet cars, you are going to have a lot of fun in it - well done.

Great news eric....how can a 1989 car have less miles than mine! Can't wait to see the pics.
My '89 E30 has just clocked 100300 km this week. That is 62k miles for you imperial system users.

In fact, there are quite a few pre 1990 E30's in NZ that have done between 62k and 124k miles. Smaller country I guess, so less distances to drive.

Congratulations.

I was looking at E34 535s and M5s a few years back. The E34 has classic styling and a very nice interior. The fit and finish of the 5er is excellent.

Make sure you get on the maintenance and other issues, as they have a few problems. I think they have some heater/AC issues. I also believe they suffer from door-lock cannibalism over time, so you may want to look into the fix-it kit that some places sell (Bav Auto or BMP should have them).

I am sure the E34 owners can chime in. Get a Bentley Manual too.

There are still a few mods for the car. A chip, exhaust and intake will give noticeable gains on that OBDI M30 engine.

[cheers]
