Every person who has reviewed the SLR said it is the best automatic transmission available. They said after 30 min of driving the car you dont miss the lack of a manual transmisson. The Benz transmison on that car is just a quick and responsive as a manual. Rember the car can be controlled manualy if you wish to do so.

But you control it with paddles on the steering wheel. Even though I've never driven anything like that, I can't imagine enjoying shifting with my hands as much as my left foot. There's just something about pushing in that clutch and letting it out every time to shift that I love .

like i said before (and alot of other people are sayin) id go crazy with auto . . .

also just like a ford is a ford, a benz is a chrysler. chrysler crossfire + mercedes badge = clk 230 sports coupe; the curse of the american duplicate cars is on benz now . . . . one car, 3 different badges.

also the main purpose of the benz to to have richass people who dont have the first clue what a supercar is buy it and they will buy it bc all the rest of them are manual.

dude.... paddle shifters are the bomb! it's like having an everyday indy car! you can't get much more sporty then that!

In that price range what would i get?

'Nuff said!!
Definitely my choice as well. The DB9 is the only car that I'd actually get really excited over seeing. I'm not all that excited about either the Ford or the Benz. I think I actually would prefer an SL65 over the SLR.

I guess some Ferraris are less of a sports car cause they have the finger shifts[rolleyes]
well the ferraris have it as an OPTION, like SMG is an option, also the tranny is MANUAL they jsut have a computer do the clutch for them but the car itself is not different. in the benz auto is the ONLY option and its an AUTO TRANNY w/ a manual override feature.

Is this going to descend into another Manual vs Auto debate??

It's been said in the past that Mercedes make some of the best auto transmissions, and some of the worst manuals. I'd go the Benz any day.
