[hihi] i prefer the coupe as it has at least this fake rear seats where it theoretically possible to get a passenger in. theoreticaly... and there is more space in trunk.

anyway, they are both great. today i saw a 03 tt roadster. but only the 150 hp version...too weak for the car...it was a steal but too small

I drove the audi tt lemans edition with nice red leather interior, and 18" or 19" wheels, i forget. that was a hoot to drive. however the turbo lag was very noticeable and i didn't really
like the fact that it was such a small car, but weighed sooo much. quattro is great i admit,
but if u want a fast car tim, how about a subaru wrx/sti or mitsubishi lancer? plenty of room
and u'll keep up with some m3's

Yeah, I've driven the TT several times and I have never noticed any turbo lag at all. It seems like when people drive a turbo car (and they don't prefer turbo cars) they are just "looking" for it when it's not actually there...the TT is one of the better turbocharged motors.

i could notice that the turbo started pushing when i did floor it. isn´t a turbo lag this weakness at accelereting from the line? in that case the TT was nice and smooth but indeed powered. [hihi] i tried one max. two times that day [rofl]...really

Turbo lag is when you step on the accelerator hard (or full throttle) and there is a delay in the power delivery because the turbocharger is still spooling up. VW's and Audi's don't really experience turbo lag because their turbos kick in at very low rpm's (sub-2K in most cases), so they are almost always working.

that is a different kind of turbo lag than i heard about till now. this delay as described by you Mr.E is noticeable with TT. but it didn´t bother me much. somehow, the feeling when the turbo started to punch me in the seat was really nice. it felt like, floor it, prepare yourself, get amazed [hihi]

I recently read that the WRX and the new EVO VIII smoked both the M3 and the Ford Cobra R any validity to this? The Japs are catching the Americans and Germans? Whats the world coming to? Just don't know if I would want all of that torque and HP without the weight to hold me on the ground. I have a buddy that has 225 ps tt quattro and he swears by it. I have 2 kids....not an option for me, so I just got to read y'alls experience and be envyous.
Thanks for the imaginative road trip!!!

I actually kind of like turbo lag too... its fun to floor it, accelerate a little then wham a ton of power.
same here dude, i like the idea of, dare i say, comfort of avg. horsepower for around town tooling, and then 3k KABOOM rocket off like a different car.

also Mr E. have you seen inside the trunk of the covert? not that i ever really use the trunk, but you can fight an avg sized suitcase and THATS IT. i asked audi, and they told me to put my clubs in the front seat[rolleyes]

frolf, I am aware of the TT Roadster's poor trunk space. But all I need in a car now is for it to accomodate to myself and a super hottie girl. I have the car, I just need the girl. [paranoid]

The TT is truly one of the more fun cars to drive on the road, and as a daily driver, it's not for everyone. But if you have the loot and can deal with its lack of practicality, it is an amazing car...and hell, it's not all that bad...it's like the only roadster on the road with AWD for the snow. [:D]
