being afraid of high speeds is not necessarily the right explaantion. you got to be careful and treat those speeds with respect. Dan hits the nail. it takes frictions of seconds for a desaster to strike. in many cases it is not even your fault but people that intend to change lanes have a very hard job guessing how fast one really is. just one small misinterpretation and you´re forced to slam the brakes. the other one didn´t even notice what he did to you...how could he? always have your speed appropriate to the traffic. if you stick to that rule, you miss many many chances to have a nice bad ass accident.

The problem is that most people that can afford such automobiles inherently assume that they can drive them. A vehicle with over 400 hp is not a toy, (i know that NO car is a toy) But just because you can buy a car doesn't mean you know how to handle one. I am in favor of a legistature that stipulates that different classes of licences be issued to varying HP rating. In order to obtain a licence for 300, 400, 500+ hp a person should have to go through extensive drivers training. That is how the Germans do it with Motorcycles.

Amen! I have know many people who have owned fast performance machines and until they took a high performance driving school thought that they knew it all.

At the time of the crash, it was speculated that the Porsche was doing around 150mph. Very sad.
Jeez another carerra GT, this is not a car that is easy to drive, and its not to be messed with.. ( watch a top gear review on it ) it has no systems ( ie traction control, etc) to catch you.. Inexperianced drivers shouldn't even touch it...

You are so right Matt, I am sure you guys remember last year when i posted the story about the 18y/o kid who worked the Porche dealership where I live. Took a Carrera GT to get washed, decided to play around and floored it from a standstill, spun out of control into on coming traffic and was killed when he hit another car. Broke the car in half. Some people...take shit for granted....fast cars, motorcycles, guns, dogs and whatever else kills dumbasses because they have no training and no clue how to handle the things they can afford. SAD SAD SAD!!!! Maybe our respective Governments should take a little more interest into these type of issues instead of say............outlawing Medicinal Marijana.[chair]
